THE POSITION

The Clerical Assistant 2 position with the Department of Corrections, Division of Parole in the Williamsport District Office offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful public service. This role gives you a chance to support parole operations through careful record handling and reliable office assistance. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides important clerical and office support that helps the district office function efficiently. The work ensures that records, reports, and communications are managed properly and shared with the right parties. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Document Management: Input, update, and modify parolee case information in various computer systems
  • Report Preparation: Collect information and prepare reports, logs, and forms as requested by the Director
  • Correspondence Handling: Review incoming documents and compose correspondence and memoranda based on instructions or notes
  • Meeting Support: Take minutes at staff and committee meetings and prepare them for distribution
  • Office Coordination: Maintain files, order supplies, and assist with timekeeping and leave record tasks
  • Public Assistance: Respond to questions from staff, parole agents, and the public using knowledge of office operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements (NSRs):
  • Must possess keyboarding skills to meet standards for speed and accuracy.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must understand how to efficiently use and navigate a personal computer.
  • Skilled using Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Previous experience with electronic communication tools/skills, such as video conferencing, and creating meetings in Microsoft Teams.
  • Previous experience combining and manipulating documents in Adobe Pro
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
