Job Details:

A Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Nurse provides specialized nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. The nurse collaborates closely with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and the cath lab team to ensure patient safety, comfort, and high-quality care.

Additional responsibilities include expediting and facilitating communication for patient consultation, referrals, second opinions, and transfers; coordinating a plan of care for new patients and serving as a primary point of contact with referring physicians; maintaining a relationship with the patient's family throughout the course of care, from initial contact through hospitalization; and providing the patient and referring physician with updates and pertinent medical information. The role also includes attending clinic sessions to facilitate patient flow, completing nursing assessments, educating patients and families, coordinating care with families, PCPs, specialists, and community agencies, assisting with discharge planning and home-care coordination, triaging calls, supporting provider messages and care coordination, and collecting and reporting procedural metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing required
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required
  • BLS CPR certification required
  • RN work experience required! Pediatric acute care/ICU experience preferred; knowledge of cardiac procedures preferred
