Field Quality Engineer - Chassis

The North America Quality organization is currently seeking a Control Tower Engineer to join the Control Tower & Field Quality team at the Headquarters & Technical Center in Auburn Hills, MI.

The Control Tower Engineer is responsible for identifying, creating and triaging warranty issues, working closely with engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing and service teams to analyze parts and vehicles in order to resolve warranty issues for our customers. Opportunities are available in the Vehicle Engineering (VEHE) Control Tower team, which is responsible for body, chassis, interior and mechatronics warranty issues.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Lead the identification of warranty related issues -- through part analysis and vehicle reviews; the Control Tower Engineer is accountable for initial problem-solving, proposed responsible functional area and clean point validation.
  • Propose triage recommendations based on combined data and physical insights for resolution by downstream teams.
  • Support governance of the warranty issue through its lifecycle


Vehicle Engineering (VEHE) Control Tower team has opportunities in the following areas:

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited University
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Engineering, Design Release, or related field, with a focus on Chassis components
  • Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Well-rounded automotive knowledge and ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and able to manage unionized workforce
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, specifically MS Excel and PowerPoint


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's in engineering or Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Shainin RedX Black Belt
  • Green Belt / Kepner Tregoe
  • Design for Six Sigma
  • Project Management
  • Working knowledge of TeamCenter
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and understanding full detail on drawings
  • Programming experience
  • 2 years of experience in testing/validation/test method development, including fixture design, instrumentation, data acquisition, etc.
