Description:

The Senior Specialist, Laboratory IT & Systems Support serves as the primary operational liaison between Technical Development laboratories and Information Technology partners. The role is responsible for supporting laboratory computing environments, instrument-connected systems, laboratory software deployment, infrastructure coordination, and end-user support activities that enable scientific operations. The position partners closely with Laboratory Operations, Laboratory Information Services (LIS), Digital & Data, instrument vendors, Facilities, Quality, and scientific organizations to ensure laboratory technology remains compliant, secure, operational, and aligned to business needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage lifecycle activities for laboratory computers and instrument-connected workstations.
  • Coordinate new computer deployments, replacements, upgrades, and retirement activities.
  • Maintain CMDB records and laboratory technology inventories.
  • Coordinate operating system, security patching, and compliance activities.
  • Support laboratory instrument software, vendor applications, and connectivity requirements.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and technology issues impacting laboratory operations.
  • Coordinate network port activations and infrastructure requests for instruments and laboratory equipment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for laboratory technology support requests.
  • Partner with IT, LIS, Digital & Data, Facilities, Quality, and instrument vendors to resolve issues and deliver solutions.
  • Support laboratory expansions, relocations, renovations, and startup activities.
  • Lead or support laboratory technology projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, standards, and support procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting laboratory computing environments, laboratory systems, or scientific instrumentation.
  • Experience supporting research, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or regulated laboratory environments.
  • Experience coordinating with instrument vendors and enterprise IT organizations.
  • Strong troubleshooting, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management experience.
