A Printpack Converting Medical Technician I assures that Printpack's products are produced in specification and meet customer requirements. They conduct various tests and AQL inspections on finished products in steady-state conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Execute quality assurance sampling and testing in accordance with internal standards and customer specifications.

  • Use a variety of lab and testing equipment, including:

    • Burst and Creep Tester

    • Tensile testers for material strength

    • Seal integrity testing by dye solution and water immersion

    • Bag dimension measurement by calibrated ruler

  • Conduct visual inspections on all representative samples from products produced across multiple production lines/processes.

  • Exhibit proficiency in the utilization of measurement instruments in both US customary and metric systems.

  • Uphold and contribute to the department's 5S standards, including housekeeping practices and efficient inventory management of supplies.

  • Engage in and contribute to Continuous Improvement (CI), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and Behavior-Based Safety Observation (BBSO) initiatives.

  • Rotate with QA2 for ergonomic compliance.

POSITION SCOPE:

Support production line and rotating with QA Technician I during steady-state runs. During this time, Med Tech 1 will be responsible for:

  • AQL bundle checks

  • Verifying bag dimensions

  • Creep and Burst Test

  • Dye and water test

Med Tech 1 will be responsible for data entry and reporting any suspect data to the appropriate team members.

Med Tech 1 will be responsible for rotating packing bags on the converting machine.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • 1-6 years of QA Technician or equivalent industry experience

Required Skills:

  • Experience in industrial manufacturing; quality experience preferred

  • Proficiency in computer skills, time management, and data interpretation

  • Skilled in using measurement tools in both US and Metric systems

  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and work instructions

  • Familiarity with ERP systems, analytical tools, and quality control processes

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and be taught new skills and concepts

  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Must pass pre-employment assessment

  • Drug screening required

  • Background check required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiarity with quality control documentation and record-keeping

  • Understanding of safety protocols and procedures

  • Expert technical skills in conducting material testing and analysis

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & TRAVEL:

The associate will work in a lab with exposure to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to lift and handle objects weighing up to 30 pounds

  • Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to navigate manufacturing environment

  • Ability to climb steps and ladders

  • Visual acuity for detailed inspection and computer work

  • Manual dexterity for operating computer and laboratory equipment

  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)

WORK CONDITIONS:

The majority of tasks will be performed in a lab or manufacturing setting with exposure to:

  • Noise levels above 85 dB

  • Manufacturing equipment/setting

  • Solvents, fumes, and inks

  • Variable temperatures

Schedule & Location:

  • Must be able to work flexible shifts

  • May require overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays

  • An additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT shift hours only (night hours vary by location)

  • Candidate must be based at a Printpack production location
