To help make a difference in your community, apply today! The Social Services Director is responsible for coordination of the Social Service functions of Rock County. Works closely with the Community Development Coordinator to provide oversight of volunteers working in the Social Services Departments of the Janesville and Beloit Corps and Service Extension. Provides oversight and direction to community collaborations, development of future programs, seasonal assistance programs, statistical and program reporting, monitoring of program funding, and reporting requirements, as well as providing direct services to clients. About the role:
- Plans, coordinates, instructs, supervises, monitors and evaluates the work performance of the Social Services staff. Ensures compliance to TSA and departmental policies and procedures. Provides support and encouragement to staff persons and provides development opportunities.
- In collaboration with the Business Administrator, screens applicants for social service positions and recommends candidates for hire.
- Conducts regular staff meetings for the purposes of program coordination, good communication and in-service trainings, and to ensure compliance with The Salvation Army policies.
- Oversees the keeping and reporting of accurate case records, documentation of services provided through all programs, and assumes responsibility for monthly statistical and in-kind donation reports to the Business Administrator.
- Ensures that accurate and timely records, reports, and statistics are maintained for all social services programs which includes but is not limited to SIMS, TSAMM and Turbostats.
- Oversee all aspects of the Transitional Housing Program, making sure to be compliant with Territorial and Divisional Social Service polices along with the City Of Janesville procedures for the housing program.
- Collaborate with Corps Officers with overseeing during the Christmas season, with Angel Tree Toy Shop registration, collection and distribution.
- Actively engages in the community to have knowledge of on-going needs, program development, and improvements to current assistance. Develops an effective continuum of care.
- Analyzes the effectiveness of all programs on a regular basis, ensuring that the programs comply with TSA's mission. Submits regular reports on these findings to the Corps Officer(s).
- Attends (or assigns and oversees staff attendance to) inter-agency, community, and state meetings as necessary to achieve objectives.
- Develops and/or manages program policies and performance accountability measures to United Way outcomes and The Salvation Army's National Social Service standards. Prepares and gives presentations representing the community needs and The Salvation Army, for funding purposes or as requested.
- Plans, coordinates and supervises assigned seasonal programs.
- Researches and processes applications for available government grants for The Salvation Army's ongoing program services. Works collaboratively with Corps Officers and Business Administrator on grant preparation, compliance, contracts, and reporting.
Education: Bachelor's degree in social services or related field. Experience: Four years' experience in program management including supervisory experience. -OR- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certifications: Valid driver's license with approval to drive from TSA's insurance carrier. The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer.
