Make your mark for patients

We are looking for a RWE Senior Expert - Special Patient Populations who is collaborative, solutions-oriented, and passionate about leveraging real world data to improve the patient experience to join our Global Real World Evidence Team. This role can based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Raleigh, North Carolina, or in Atlanta, Georgia. This hybrid role requires a minimum of 40% on-site presence and 5-10% domestic and international travel.


About the Role

You will lead the design and execution of global real-world evidence programs that generate insights to support research and development, guide strategic business decisions, and advance understanding of disease and patient outcomes. Your work will help inform decision-making for a wide range of stakeholders, including patients, healthcare professionals, regulators, policymakers, and payers.

You will be responsible for developing and strengthening real-world data capabilities across specific disease areas, with a particular focus on women of childbearing age and other specialized patient populations, including pediatric and elderly patients. Working closely with cross-functional partners, you will also shape and deliver the overarching real-world evidence strategy for key development and commercial assets.

Who you'll work with

Internally, you will work closely with colleagues across Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, Market Access, Biostatistics, Data Science, Evidence Generation, and Asset Strategy teams to develop and deliver evidence strategies that support decisions across the product lifecycle.

Externally, you will partner with academic researchers, healthcare providers, key opinion leaders, healthcare data partners, contract research organizations, and regulatory stakeholders to generate high-quality evidence, advance scientific understanding, and address critical clinical, regulatory, and market access questions.


What you'll do

  • Lead the design and execution of global real-world evidence studies that support research, development, regulatory, medical, market access, and business decision-making.
  • Develop evidence-generation strategies for special patient populations, including individuals who are pregnant, pediatric populations, older adults, and other underrepresented patient groups.
  • Deliver complex observational research programs using real-world data and prospective data collection, ensuring scientific rigor, operational excellence, and timely execution.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify evidence needs related to disease burden, treatment outcomes, safety, effectiveness, and patient care pathways across the product lifecycle.
  • Translate study findings into actionable insights and communicate results to internal stakeholders, external partners, scientific audiences, and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with external experts, research partners, and healthcare data providers to advance innovative evidence-generation approaches.
  • Shape long-term evidence strategies for priority assets and disease areas while identifying opportunities to leverage new data sources, advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Serve as a trusted scientific advisor, championing robust methodologies and evidence-based decision-making across the organization.


Interested? For this role we're looking for the following education, experience and skills
Minimum Experience/Skills Required:

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Epidemiology, Outcomes Research, Biostatistics, Data Science, Public Health, Health Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience designing, leading, and delivering real-world evidence studies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, consulting, or academic sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience using primary and secondary healthcare data to generate evidence that informs clinical, regulatory, medical, or commercial decision-making.
  • Strong expertise in epidemiology, outcomes research, observational study design, and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience working across global or regional cross-functional teams and managing complex research initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Outcomes Research, Public Health, Statistics, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Experience supporting evidence-generation strategies across the product lifecycle, including regulatory, medical affairs, market access, and health technology assessment needs.
  • Experience in maternal health, pregnancy, lactation, fertility, neonatal health, pediatric populations, older adult populations, or other special patient populations.
  • Proven track record of developing scientific publications, abstracts, posters, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Experience with innovative real-world evidence study designs, external control arms, comparative effectiveness research, and post-authorization safety or effectiveness studies.
  • Interest in applying advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to real-world data and evidence-generation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and translate complex evidence into actionable business and scientific recommendations.

This positions reasonably anticipated base salary range is $164,000 to $215,300 per year. The actual salary offered will take into account internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
