What You'll Do
As a Health Information Management Specialist II, you will:
- Obtains medical records and supporting documentation. Proactively works to secure incomplete data for clean
submission of claims utilizing EMR access, technology support software, requests for information, and traditional
medical record requests. - Examines documents and determines its proper placement within the paper or electronic record.
- Within established guidelines, utilizes critical thinking to complete key job responsibilities, such as, medical record
retrieval, document labeling, and problem solving. - Examines patient's medical records and verifies patient identification.
- Performs pre-scan validation of new claims and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, timely processing,
and revenue recognition. - Works in Breg Claim System (BCS), utilizing patient care documentation and uploaded supporting claim
documentation to resolve pending claims. - Operates at a high level of productivity while upholding accuracy and quality controls.
- Comprehends general medical necessity requirements as stated in the LCD policy article for Breg's core products.
- Performs administrative tasks and ensures efficient office operations; includes receives paper claim documentation,
scans of claims, tends to mail and overnight shipping, faxes, copies, scans, files, purchases office supplies, and
creates general correspondence. - Maintains and ensures HIPAA compliance for patient medical records and personal health information.
- Meets daily, weekly, and monthly objectives including claim processing, revenue, and achievement of scorecard
expectations. - Promotes Breg's culture of accountability by demonstration and exemplifies Breg's cultural beliefs.
- Contributes to the development of Health Information Management processes and procedures to ensure
continuous quality improvement - Assists and participates in process improvement activities as a subject matter expert.
- Supports all other medical billing and collection tasks as required.
- May meet, greet, and assist patients, vendors, and visitors promptly, efficiently, and in a professional manner.
- May maintain office supplies and equipment by anticipating supply needs.
What You Bring
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* 3+ years of experience in medical billing or HIM related job duties required.
* Previous medical records experience, including EMR navigation, general billing knowledge, CPT and ICD-10 codes
required.
* Knowledge of standard medical terminology, basic human anatomy, orthopedic diagnoses, and medical record
format, content, and medical documentation order required.
* Knowledge of EMR systems and understanding of where various data points and clinical information is located
required.
* Computer proficient to include web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
capabilities. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.
* Proficient in the use and operation of office machinery, telecommunications, and web-based tools.
* Ability to perform routine maintenance and basic maintenance of scanning equipment preferred.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and professional.
* Ability to maintain consistent, regular attendance and punctuality.

Work Schedules include....
May include variable start/end times outside of the company's standard business hours of 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Compensation
Salary Range: $19.00-$26.00/hr. Actual compensation is determined by factors such as experience, skills, and business needs. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary/pay across all US locations. Actual pay is based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographical location, work experience, skill set, relevant trainings and certifications, and business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus.
