Office of Graduate Education

The Graduate Education office at Missouri S&T supports graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, and staff through advising, degree milestones, thesis and dissertation review, policy guidance, professional development, and administrative support through degree completion and postdoctoral success.

Job Description

The Graduate School is newly established effective August 1, 2026, marking a significant moment of transformation for graduate and postdoctoral education at Missouri S&T. As the office builds toward this new, centralized focus, structures and processes across the division will continue to evolve to best serve graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and the broader academic community. This position is essential to maintain consistent service and support for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars throughout this transition.

  • Program/Project Administration
    • Lead and coordinate programs and projects that enhance graduate education processes, improve office efficiency and service delivery, and support graduate student success.
    • Provide guidance and oversight to students, faculty, and staff while ensuring projects align with institutional policies, academic requirements, and strategic priorities.
    • Evaluate project outcomes and recommend improvements to strengthen graduate services and operations.
  • Graduate Student Support Coordination and Team Leadership
    • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to a team of Graduate Student Support Coordinators, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery and application of graduate policies and procedures.
    • Facilitate team communication and meetings, coordinate training and onboarding, support staff development, and assist with complex or escalated student issues to promote effective and consistent student support.
  • Accelerated Program Advising and Degree Completion Support
    • Provide comprehensive advising and administrative support for students in the Grad Track Pathway program, ensuring compliance with program and institutional requirements.
    • Review plans of study, monitor academic progress and degree requirements, and provide ongoing guidance on program sequencing, credit application, and academic policies.
    • Collaborate with academic departments to maintain accurate program requirements, forms, documentation, and advising resources, while providing guidance to faculty and staff on graduate policies and complex student situations and maintaining accurate student records and reports.
  • Thesis and Dissertation Format Review
    • Review theses and dissertations to ensure compliance with established Missouri University of Science and Technology formatting requirements and specifications.
    • Meet with students to troubleshoot formatting concerns and provide guidance on document preparation standards.
  • Thesis and Dissertation Formatting Instruction and Support
    • Provide training and instructional sessions to graduate students on proper thesis and dissertation formatting in accordance with university requirements and Graduate Faculty standards.
    • Develop and deliver separate guidance and instructional materials for Microsoft Word and LaTeX users to support accurate document preparation.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform other duties as assigned in support of graduate education operations and institutional goals.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and with a highly diverse population.
  • Working knowledge of student information systems, academic management and workflow platforms, and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn and effectively utilize institution-specific software and technology, such as PeopleSoft, Kuali, Stellic, and related systems.
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $53,976-$65,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
