Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! The Spare/Break-Fix Inventory Technician is responsible for maintaining an inventory of spare equipment and components as replacements to ensure Continuity of Operations (COOP) when hardware failure occurs of IT equipment anywhere within the global customer IT enterprise environment.

Responsibilities:

    Additionally, you will maintain quantities of break-fix computers and components (desktops, laptops, monitors, hard disks, power supplies, mice, keyboards) to meet established SLAs.
  • The Spare Break/Fix Inventory Technician will also set up compatible replacement hardware of equal or better performance upon receipt of a hardware failure based on the priority of the service desk request.
  • Additionally, you track the delivery status of items sent out for repair to manufacturers.
  • You will assist in the management of all packaging and shipping processes for IT equipment, including shipments to remote and challenging overseas locations, adhering to customer standards.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The following are the education and experience required for this position:

  • 2+ years
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Secret Security Clearance

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Comp TIA Sec+, ITIL 4 Foundation Certification(s)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:

  • Sitting for long periods
  • Standing for long periods
  • Ambulate throughout an office
  • Ambulate between several buildings
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
  • Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 40 pounds
  • Travel by land or air transportation 10 % .
