Covia is looking for a dynamic Maintenance Lead who will have a positive impact on the Maintenance Team at its Dividing Creek, NJ location. As a Maintenance Lead, you will lead the maintenance crew in the day-to-day maintenance activities, which include preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, emergency work orders and maintenance shutdowns. The incumbent will work under the direction of the maintenance supervisor to ensure daily maintenance activities are executed at a high level by the maintenance team members. In the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Lead will assign work and direct the maintenance crew as necessary and respond to radio calls from operations as required.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Comply with applicable MSHA regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and procedures applying to the worker or person that are part of a safety and health management system for the mine
  • Take any other reasonable and necessary course of action to ensure anyone is not exposed to an unacceptable level of risk
  • Ensure, to the extent of the responsibilities and duties allocated to the worker or person, that the work and activities under the worker's control, supervision, or leadership is conducted in a way that does not expose the worker or person or someone else to an unacceptable level of risk
  • Direct the Maintenance Crew in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor. Responding to any work requests or calls from operations.
  • To the extent of the worker's or person's involvement, to participate in and conform to the risk management practices of the operation
  • Comply with instructions given for safety and health of persons by the mine operator or a supervisor at the operation
  • Adhere to site procedures and instructions given by supervisors,
  • Proactively manage equipment to ensure availability and reliability targets are met
  • Assist in the planning maintenance tasks



The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • Previous experience in a maintenance role
  • Competency in

    • welding and metal fabrication
    • industrial fluid power and pumping systems


  • Preference given to technical training in computer systems, conveyors, or similar
  • Preference given to candidates with competency in

    • preventative maintenance strategies
    • mechanical drives & power transmission


  • Preference given to previous experience within mining operations
