Overview

Make an impact where compliance, safety, and operational excellence intersect. As a specialist in EH&S Procedures, Training & Admin, youll lead the coordination and resolution of regulatory matters, collaborate with regulators and legal partners, and turn data into actionable insights that reduce risk and improve performance. Additionally, the specialist role assist with various ad hoc administrative and operational support such as creating requisitions and processing payments. This high-visibility role offers the opportunity to influence compliance outcomes and support continuous improvement across the organization.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Partner with the EH&S Violations Manager to oversee environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) violations, citations, and regulatory correspondence across all business units.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies, including OSHA, EPA, DEP, DEC, FDNY, DOH, and other local, state, and federal authorities, ensuring timely and accurate responses to compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with the Law Department and business partners to prepare documentation, evidence, and support for administrative hearings and regulatory proceedings.
  • Manage and maintain violation records, supporting documentation, and evidence within SharePoint and other compliance systems, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.
  • Analyze violation data to identify trends, recurring issues, emerging risks, and opportunities for proactive corrective action.
  • Support the development and maintenance of EH&S compliance dashboards, metrics, and reports that provide actionable insights to leadership and operational teams.
  • Prepare and communicate regulatory updates, program enhancements, compliance performance metrics, and key findings to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Investigate alleged EH&S violations and partner with Legal and Operations teams to develop response strategies and corrective action plans.
  • Track violations from issuance through final resolution, including matters under the jurisdiction of the New York City Environmental Control Board, ensuring compliance with deadlines, hearing requirements, payment obligations, and closure activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive violation logs, monitoring costs, key milestones, outcomes, and closure status.
  • Provide administrative and operational support, including requisitions, invoice processing, inventory management, and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years relevant work experience or
  • Associate's Degree and 4 years relevant work experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years relevant work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field and 2 years relevant work experience
  • Associate's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field and 4 years relevant work experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, especially Microsoft Office Suite, and knowledge of SharePoint, required.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills, required.
  • Demonstrated high energy level, flexibility, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments while working under aggressive timelines, required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EH&S regulations, preferred.
  • Experience managing regulatory records, audits, or communications with government agencies, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Power BI dashboards and Oracle financial systems, preferred.
  • Possess knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and the ability to work with new systems, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to respond to company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
