| Position Description: |
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Surgery isseekinga creative, enthusiastic, and highly motivatedPostdoctoral Research Scholarto conduct innovative research in collaboration with Dr. Richard Guyer and his laboratory team. This position will provide scientific and technical leadership in the management, design, and conduct of basic pre-clinical research on pediatric solid tumors. The postdoc may alsoparticipatein didactics and teaching activities, when available. Duties to include:
- Designing and executing experiments
- Collecting and analyzing data
- Assistingwith writing and revising manuscripts, grant proposals, abstract submission, and publications
- Mentoring and collaborating with graduate students and research assistants
Please note: This position is for a limited duration not to exceed five (5) years unless there are unusual circumstances. More information available athttps://grad.uiowa.edu/postdoctoral-affairs. Dr. Guyer is a surgeon-scientist in the Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery atthe Universityof Iowa Carver College of Medicine. His lab performscutting edgeresearch on deciphering the developmental pathways involved in pediatric solid tumors, particularly neuroblastoma. Dr. Guyer's laboratory aims to conduct research with strong potential for translation from bench to bedside.

- MD or PhD in related discipline, or equivalent degree.

- Expertise inroutine molecular and cell culture techniques
- Experience working with fish and/or rodentmodels of development and disease
- Experience with bioinformatic methods and coding.
- Excellent laboratory and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
