Job Summary
Southwire's CableTechSupport Services & Engineering team plays a mission-critical role in supporting the rapid growth of residential, commercial, industrial, OEM, and utility power markets across North America and globally. Guided by the Re mission-to Respond, Rectify, and Restore electrical systems with Reinforced, Resilient, and Reliable solutions-the CableTechSupport Services & Engineering team delivers best-in-class technical consultation, emergency field support, and innovative engineering solutions. We are seeking a visionary Manager, CableTechSupport Services & Engineering to lead the strategic direction, execution, and expansion of Southwire's technical services and engineering capabilities. This people leader will oversee a high-performing engineering organization, drive value-added services and innovative solutions across emerging markets, and serve as a trusted technical advisor to internal stakeholders and external partners. The ideal candidate brings deep industry expertise, a strong commercial mindset, and a proven ability to scale engineering capabilities that create measurable customer value, drive profitability, and accelerate business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead engineering strategy to drive growth across R&C, P&I, data centers, power generation, renewables, factory automation, telecom, transit, and critical infrastructure markets.
- Team Leadership: Develop and manage a high-performing multidisciplinary engineering team supporting more than 25,000 customer requests annually.
- Voice of Customer: Resolve critical field issues, support regulatory compliance, issue engineering letters, and provide technical guidance to customers, inspectors, and stakeholders.
- Customer-Centric Innovation: Convert customer challenges into new products, services, and solutions, including Re cable repair systems and jobsite support offerings.
- Digital Tools & Solution Selling: Advance Southwire's solution-selling strategy through award-winning and patent-pending platforms, including the Re Chatbot and Re Cable Pull Calculator.
- Intellectual Property: Drive innovation and patent development in collaboration with internal and external IP counsel.
- Industry Leadership: Guide subject matter experts participating in major codes and standards organizations, including NEC, NFPA, UL, CSA, ASTM, ICEA, AEIC, SAE, NEMA, ANSI, and ISO.
- Digital Transformation: Expand online engineering resources, manage engineering data governance, and ensure specification accuracy through ECM processes.
- Service Expansion: Develop and scale premium engineering services, including advanced ampacity modeling and technical consulting.
- Proposal & Bid Support: Lead technical reviews, RFIs, RFQs, and bid responses for strategic and government-funded infrastructure projects.
- Thought Leadership: Deliver Re bi-monthly publications, create customer-focused technical content, and showcase measurable value through real-world case studies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and channel partners to support training, customer engagement, and product launches.
- Brand Development: Increase the visibility of CableTechSupport through webinars, podcasts, publications, continuing education programs with PDH credits, and keynote speaking engagements.
Required Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

Experience
- Applications support and/or product engineering experience in the wire and cable, power, utility, electrical manufacturing, or broader electrical industry is required.
- 10+ years of experience in wire and cable applications, including at least 5 years in a lead engineering role.
- Proven track record of mentoring and developing technical team members, including setting and supporting short- and long-term career goals.
- Experience working across diverse industries and global markets.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency with engineering software such as FEA/COMSOL, CYMCAP, AutoCAD, MATLAB, ETAP, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with SAP, Salesforce, CRM systems, and technical service platforms.
- Demonstrated success in technical content creation, public speaking, and customer-facing presentations.
