Job Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Strategy and Social Media serves as the Athletics Department coordinator of game-day promotions, social media and marketing. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs, the position works closely with Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations and other external operations units to build awareness for UT Dallas Athletics and support our student athletes and coaches.

Responsible for all facets of the department's digital and social media efforts as it relates to graphic design, photography and videography to tell the story of UTD Athletics while meeting brand standards.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree; experience in athletic administrative functions. Knowledge, skills and abilities to include NCAA/conference rules and legislation, event management, athletic budget development-management experience, knowledge of athletic sport functions, employee training and supervisory experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Film Production, Sports Management, or Sports Marketing.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in creative services, preferably creating content for a sports team or organization.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Strong organizational skills in a high-volume environment.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA Division II rules.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Strategy and Social Media serves as the Athletics Department coordinator of game-day promotions, social media and marketing. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs, the position works closely with Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations and other external operations units to build awareness for UT Dallas Athletics and support our student athletes and coaches. Responsible for all facets of the department's digital and social media efforts as it relates to graphic design, photography and videography to tell the story of UT Dallas Athletics while meeting brand standards.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive digital and social media strategy with a key focus on elevating fan engagement, growing social media communities and enhancing the UTD Athletics brand
  • Manage the graphic design needs for UTD Athletics and individual sports teams for website, social media, in-venue and other digital platforms
  • Provide leadership and direction for student creative staff, ensuring quality control, including proofing, reviewing and evaluating creative output
  • Establish cohesive annual goals for the creative team
  • Oversight of student employees; train students with camera operations, production of webcasts on FloCollege broadcasts. Train student employees brand standards and content creation operations of UTD Athletics


Occasional travel with UTD Athletics programs to provide further coverage. Must maintain best practices to ensure content strategy is in-line with audience trends. Employee agrees to abide by the Code of Ethics as set forth by the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Texas System; Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems; Complies with all State and University policies; other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics and Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Expected to work extended hours, early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays during athletic seasons. Must be able to lift to 50lbs., travel on a bus or in vans for an extended period of time and must be able to stand outside for a long period of time. Must be able to work on a team and adjust to schedules that may change. Must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver license within six months of hire and have an acceptable driving record. Eligible for remote work after surpassing six-month probationary period. Outdoor sports may require employee to work in heat or cold conditions.

Remote Work Notice: After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
