Equipment Solutions Supervisor - Maintenance and Service

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking Equipment Solutions Supervisor-Maintenance and Service to join our team. This role is responsible for leading the service, maintenance, and repair operations of Mortenson's equipment fleet while delivering exceptional customer service to project teams, trade partners, and internal stakeholders. This role provides leadership to mechanics, technicians, and Equipment Solutions team members to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, compliant, and available when needed.

The Equipment Maintenance Supervisor drives operational excellence through preventive maintenance programs, vendor partnerships, continuous improvement initiatives, and effective team development. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, leadership capability, and a customer-focused mindset to support project success across multiple operating groups.

Location: Phoenix, AZ (on-site 5 days/week)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Operations & Fleet Reliability
  • Oversee all preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and warranty programs.

  • Establish maintenance priorities to maximize fleet uptime and operational readiness.

  • Develop and monitor equipment service schedules, work orders, and repair tracking systems.

  • Coordinate troubleshooting and repair activities with technicians, vendors, and project teams.

Customer Service Excellence
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for equipment service-related support.

  • Partner with project teams to understand equipment service requirements and operational challenges.

  • Provide timely communication regarding equipment status, repairs, and availability.

Vendor & Supplier Management
  • Obtain and evaluate service proposals and repair estimates.

  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure quality, responsiveness, and cost effectiveness.

  • Support negotiations for service agreements and maintenance contracts.

Financial Management
  • Monitor repair costs, utilization trends, and equipment lifecycle metrics.

  • Assist with annual forecasting and capital expenditure planning.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs while maintaining equipment reliability.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
  • 5+ years of equipment maintenance, fleet management, or heavy equipment service experience

  • Strong understanding of construction equipment, fleet operations, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance programs

  • Experience managing service vendors and repair contracts

  • Financial and operational management experience

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed

Preferred
  • 6+ months of leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Experience supporting large construction projects.

  • Knowledge of heavy civil, renewable energy, transmission, or industrial construction equipment.

  • Familiarity with fleet management systems, telematics platforms, maintenance systems, or asset management tools.

  • DOT, licensing, registration, and multi-state compliance knowledge
  • Lean, continuous improvement, or process optimization experience.

The base pay range for this role is $81,800 - $110,400. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
