Jr. Software Developer

Inserso
Aug 13, 2026
Inserso is seeking a Junior Power Platform Developer to support the design, development, and maintenance of low-code business applications and automated workflows for our federal customer's DevSecOps program. This is an entry-level role (1-3 years of professional experience) for someone early in their career who wants to build hands-on Microsoft Power Platform experience in a mission-critical, regulated environment. Power Platform proficiency is not expected on day one - this team values candidates with strong, tool-agnostic fundamentals in programming, data, and analytics who can apply that foundation to a specific platform. The candidate will work alongside two current team members with Power Platform development experience, one of whom brings strong SQL Server depth. This role requires a candidate who can learn independently, document their own work thoroughly, and sustain progress without daily oversight. This position is on-site at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain Canvas and Model-driven Power Apps to support business process needs.
  • Design and implement Power Automate cloud flows to automate manual or repetitive workflows.
  • Support Dataverse table design, relationships, and basic security role configuration.
  • Assist with Power BI report/dashboard development, including dataset preparation.
  • Integrate Power Platform solutions with SharePoint, SQL Server, and other Microsoft 365 data sources.
  • Apply fundamental programming and data concepts to platform-specific implementation, learning Power Platform's tools on the job.
  • Document solution design, configuration decisions, and known issues clearly enough that teammates can pick up the work with minimal handoff time.
  • Participate in testing, documentation, and peer code/solution review.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing Power Platform solutions.
  • Proactively communicate blockers and continue making productive progress through research, testing, documentation, or backlog work while awaiting guidance.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Must meet DoD 8140 compliance through required certifications for elevated network privilege (e.g., CompTIA Security+). If the candidate doesn't already possess, must be willing to obtain it.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance; an active Secret clearance is preferred.
  • Up to 3 years of professional software, data, or application-development experience; strong internship, academic, or personal-project experience will also be considered.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Fundamental object-oriented programming concepts, demonstrated through C# or a comparable object-oriented language; familiarity with C# preferred.
  • Fundamental scripting/programming ability in Python.
  • Fundamental SQL skills - writing queries, joins, filtering, aggregation.
  • Basic, tool-agnostic understanding of data analytics concepts - data types, aggregation logic, tabular data manipulation, basic statistics.
  • Basic understanding of relational data concepts (tables, relationships, keys).
  • Strong self-documentation habits - comfortable writing down what they did and why, not just doing the work.
  • Comfortable asking good questions in batched/async form rather than needing real-time answers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset - ability to break down a business process into logical steps.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on exposure to Power Apps and/or Power Automate (coursework, internship, or personal projects).
  • Foundational understanding of Power Fx (Canvas app formula language).
  • Exposure to Power BI (report building, DAX basics).
  • Exposure to Dataverse or the legacy Common Data Service.
  • Familiarity with Power Platform Admin Center / environments concept.
  • Coursework, certification, or self-study in Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900).
  • Familiarity with SharePoint lists and document libraries.

Physical and/or Mental Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

EOE, including Disability/Vets.

Reasonable accommodation will be made for qualified individuals with a disability, where such accommodation will not impose an undue hardship during the application process and on the job.
