THE POSITION

Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as an Information Technology Intern at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Waymart and learn valuable skills that support real technology needs. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the mission of the IT Office by helping maintain secure, reliable, and innovative technology systems. You support technical needs, assist staff, and take part in daily IT activities. As an Information Technology Intern, you will perform the following duties:

  • Technical Support: Assist with basic troubleshooting and resolving common computer issues
  • Hardware Tasks: Help set up, maintain, and organize equipment and devices
  • Documentation Work: Update records, track assets, and keep information accurate
  • Project Assistance: Support small IT projects and help complete assigned tasks
  • Customer Service: Communicate clearly with staff and provide helpful responses
  • Skill Development: Participate in learning activities and expand technical knowledge

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time internship from Fall 2026 to December 2026.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirement:

  • You must be currently attending college studying in an Information Technology (IT) related field.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
