Location: Bariatric Surgery Clinic

Status: (Full-time) Monday-Friday

• APA approved internship rotations in bariatrics in the country.

• Team environment: Embedded in a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, NP's, dieticians, PT, navigators, coordinators and ample clinic support staff. Exceptionally collegial, respectful, and positive attitudes toward patient health and long-term success.
• Day to Day responsibilities and expectations: Most days are spent with face-to-face patient assessments and care. The role is heavy on assessment. The team expectations are to disseminate clear information regarding patient safety, success ratio, readiness, understanding, social supports and historical challenges that may affect recovery and ability to comply with lifestyle.
• Schedule, weekly flow: Monday-Friday 40 hour week with one half day of admin time. That half day can be selected by the employee. Most clinicians in the clinic take Friday afternoons. Flow is often Monday-Wednesday two assessments with report completion per day, Thursday hourly follow ups or case work, Friday depends on need typically the afternoon is admin time.
• Additional Opportunities: Research, attending or presenting at conferences, being a part of organizations, campus committees, and community involvement. Member of the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Psychiatry. Would be a volunteer faculty for OU and the College of Medicine. There are opportunities to increase that part of the job and do more teaching, become an assistant professor, be involved in student recruitment and retention in psychology and teach at the College of medicine.

Psychologist Levels

• Psychologist I (is based on 0-3 years)
• Psychologist II 3-5 years
• Psychologist III 5 years or more

The licensed psychologist (or license-eligible psychologist) in the State of Oklahoma will provide care as part of our growing healthcare system and will be an essential part of the interdisciplinary team at OU Health by providing assessment, treatment, and consultation for individuals with behavioral health needs that may be associated with their health conditions.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality behavioral health services to patients with a variety of psychological andmedical conditions within the OU Health system
• Provide consultation to other healthcare professionals regarding the psychological aspects of a patient's mental health condition, medical condition, or hospitalization.
• Attend and collaborate with other healthcare professionals in team rounds, didactics, and meetings
• Provide supervision to psychology practicum students, interns, and post-doctoral residents
• May participate in a variety of academic opportunities, including clinical research and education of trainees in psychology and other medical disciplines
• May participate in program development opportunities based on the specific needs of the clinical service.

General Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirements

• Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.): Psychology (Required).
  

Experience Requirements

• Completion of a predoctoral, APA-accredited internship required.
• Specialized training in psychology, including a postdoctoral residency/fellowship required.
• Psychologists employed at a Children's facility must have demonstrated experience working with Adolescents and Youth.
• 0 - 3 years' experience, including postdoctoral training, required.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

• Licensed as a psychologist in the State of Oklahoma required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements

• Be eligible for faculty appointment at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
• Have knowledge of evidence-based psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation.
• Have an interest in training/supervision of trainees in psychology and other disciplines.
• Have experience in research, program development, and/or quality improvement.
