DESCRIPTION OF WORK

These positions support individualized care plans that help maintain the health, comfort, and safety of inmates housed at SCI Laurel Highlands. Work centers on assisting licensed staff with daily inmate care and documentation. As a Nurse Aid, you will perform the following duties:
- Health Monitoring: Check and record vital signs, collect required specimens, and observe output habits, skin condition, and other daily health patterns
- Personal Care Support: Complete or assist inmates with personal hygiene and care needs, provide complete bed care, help with meals and hydration, and observe sleep patterns
- Comfort and Safety: Support inmate mobility, provide comfort adjustments, and follow all infection control procedures and universal healthcare precautions
- Care Documentation: Record all care actions provided and observations of inmate conditions and needs, complete and submit reports on time, and maintain electronic health records
- Work Environment Upkeep: Keep spaces orderly and clean; promptly report all hazards, medical emergencies, or situations that affect normal operations; and attend trainings

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Eight-hour shifts include 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM), with rotating days off and a 30-minute lunch. Your work schedule is to be determined.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
- Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
Special Requirement:
- This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
