Job Title:

IPT Lead Engineer - Development

Work Schedule:

Onsite - Buffalo, NY

Moog, Inc. is a global leader in motion control across land, sea air and space, pioneering advanced solutions to drive cutting edge innovation for our valued customers.

Our Space and Defense Group (SDG) is the operating group with the longest heritage at Moog and serves ever-evolving markets with ongoing innovation that allows for constantly developing technology and excellent career opportunities.

Shape the Next Generation of Space & Defense

Within our Space & Defense Group, Actuation & Avionics is one of the world's leading resources for high-technology TVC systems, developing hydraulic, electromechanical, and electrohydraulic actuation solutions for booster and large missile applications.

Based in East Aurora, NY, our A&A team is looking for multiple IPT Lead Engineers - Development to take technical leadership roles on major development programs.

This is an opportunity to lead the development of next-generation thrust vector control (TVC) systems supporting some of Moog's most important generational programs and key Department of Defense and aerospace customers.

Why This Opportunity Matters

This is more than a traditional engineering role. You'll be helping develop generational aerospace and defense systems that will define the next generation of strategic capabilities.

You'll work directly with prime customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to take advanced TVC systems from concept and trade studies through design, integration, qualification, and production.

Your work will support major programs, including advanced anti-ballistic missile defense systems, next-generation ICBM applications, and the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Vulcan platform.

If you're an engineer who wants to combine deep technical expertise with real engineering leadership, this is an opportunity to influence the design and execution of systems that operate at the highest levels of performance and reliability.

The Opportunity

As an IPT Lead Engineer - Development, you'll have broad technical autonomy and responsibility for leading the design and development of complex TVC actuation systems.

You'll serve as a primary technical leader for your Integrated Product Team, driving technical decisions, coordinating across engineering disciplines, working directly with customers and suppliers, and guiding hardware through the development lifecycle.

This role combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, program execution, and customer engagement. You'll have the opportunity to shape both the technology and the way the program is executed.

What You'll Bring

To be considered for this IPT Lead Engineer - Development role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or a related technical discipline

  • 7 or more years of progressive engineering experience

  • 5 or more years of space system design experience

  • 3 or more years leading technical teams

  • Demonstrated engineering experience across the full program lifecycle

  • Experience preparing for and presenting at customer reviews

  • Experience with risk management and Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Experience developing schedules using Microsoft Project

  • Familiarity with Agile design processes

  • Flexibility to work extended hours when required

What You'll Do

As an IPT Lead Engineer - Development, you will:

  • Lead the Integrated Product Team responsible for the technical oversight, direction, hands-on design, development, and integration of TVC actuation systems

  • Ensure end-to-end products are designed, integrated, and tested to meet program requirements

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and modification of designs through transition to production

  • Lead and participate in technical trade studies to ensure designs meet physical, mechanical, environmental, payload, power, propulsion, thermal, communications, and attitude-control requirements

  • Support major program design and readiness reviews

  • Serve as a primary technical interface across program, engineering, customer, supplier, and vendor organizations

  • Work closely with external suppliers and vendors to ensure technical and process alignment

  • Develop and maintain technical development plans and schedule inputs throughout program execution

  • Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for assigned program tasks and proposals

  • Communicate development status and establish metrics to monitor technical and program progress

  • Provide schedule status, Estimate-to-Complete (ETC), and variance inputs to Cost Account Managers

  • Define technical objectives and drive solutions to complex engineering problems

  • Provide technical direction, mentoring, and guidance to less-experienced engineers

  • Develop and execute engineering solutions spanning design, integration, testing, documentation, resources, compliance, and safety

  • Coordinate technical documentation, reporting, presentations, and customer communications

  • Anticipate future engineering and technology needs and identify opportunities to apply emerging technologies

  • Support the development and expansion of new business opportunities
