| Position Summary |
This position serves as primary office assistant and office manager for the Biology and Physics & Astronomy Departments. The employee in this position provides administrative assistance to the department chair, faculty, and students within these areas.
Duties include:
- serving as the first point of contact for departmental inquiries and questions
- processing, scanning, or copying course materials
- file and record maintenance
- ordering of supplies; processing of purchase orders, check requests, and travel requests and reimbursements
- budget management
- calendar management
- scheduling meetings and reserving meeting spaces as needed
- assisting with logistics and information related to faculty searches
- serving as a public contact for students and providing information on campus resources and policies
- marketing and promoting of departmental events
- website maintenance
The employee in this position is responsible for ordering supplies and materials related to the departments, labs and as needed for ongoing research. She/he will also be responsible for budget management of various funds and reporting as needed for the department.
The employee in this position should be able to multitask and be flexible in working with multiple departments with various mission and support needs. |

- Strong written and verbal communications skills, experience with various office technology such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Google Drive and website maintenance.
- Knowledge & experience in budget and fund management.
- Experience with the Banner system.

| Work Schedule and Hours |
Typical hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional time on evenings and weekends may be needed to meet the needs of the department. |
