Travel:

Travel domestically within the U.S. up to 10% of time as required to support sales pitches and demos, user training, and team activities.

Job Duties:

WHY I DO MY JOB | Job purpose

To bring deep Category Management experience and expertise, coupled with strong market knowledge to the assigned region in order to win new business, grow client value, our people and dunnhumby. Specifically provide support for new and existing clients across the region through providing subject-matter expertise input to sales, and delivering consultancy as required throughout client engagements. This position supervises 2 direct reports, both of whom hold the title of Category Management Consulting Manager. May telecommute 100% of the time from their home office, consistent with dunnhumby's remote work policy.

WHAT I DO | Key accountabilities




  • Lead delivery of consulting projects for priority clients or to win long term deals and ensure quality deliverables for the client.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships internally and with client counterparts to ensure the smooth running of every project.
  • Support Category Management mobilization and ensure full handover to Client team.
  • Ensure excellent standards and profitable delivery of Category Management projects in the region based on global best practices.
  • Conduct quality reviews of Category Management delivery and measure the value added for assigned clients within the region.
  • Support pre-sales activities and lead generation in coordination with Sales and Client teams and support client team in gathering all relevant information to present to and gain support from Product team(s) and approval from Sales Governance (where applicable) on any new client proposals.
  • Partner with Sales and Client teams to understand new and existing client needs, support new business and existing client account development, and sell in relevant and compelling product and/or service solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the dunnhumby team to present a joined-up aligned team to the client.
  • Support and deliver P&P and Category Management training of dunnhumby sales teams through leading content updates and delivery of appropriate live sessions.
  • Feed client needs and market opportunities back to the relevant product or proposition team.
  • Build compelling Category Management case studies based on the value we've added for clients in the region(s) working closely with Product & Product Marketing teams.
  • Contribute towards creating a best-in-class Category Management Solutions team globally, keeping connected and aligned with the Global Category Management Product teams as well as Media & CE Consulting team in other regions to define and drive best practices globally.
  • Contribute to evolution of the dunnhumby consulting propositions, dh thought leadership and take advantage of opportunities to position dunnhumby as thought leaders and capability partners through writing blogs/articles or speaking at conferences and other industry events.
  • Manage risk effectively, provide visible and consistent leadership on Values and Code of Business Conduct, and act where you see issues.
  • Protect our team by ensuring they have the skills and training needed.



Job requirements:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign educational equivalent).

In addition to the degree, must have at least 5 years of experience in each of the following:




  • Working with retailers and manufacturers in embedding customer insight in existing category management processes;
  • Delivering business value through customer insights, customer knowledge and customer focused business change; and
  • Working with Customer analytics tools and Assortment optimization tools with Retailers and Consumer Packaged Goods companies (CPGs)



Within this, must have at least 2 years of experience in each of the following:




  • Supporting Category Management processes for a retailer, ensuring review calendar alignment and compliance;
  • Supporting CPGs on their work as Category Advisors for a retailer within their Category Management process; and
  • Delivering and working to embed Category Management services within Retailers and CPGs processes.
