Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP), in partnership with OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois, seeks a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Clinical Pediatrics rank. The successful candidate will join a growing division dedicated to excellence in clinical care, education, and program development, providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services while contributing to the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Opportunities exist for leadership, program development, and the cultivation of specialized clinical or academic interests within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care for pediatric patients with gastrointestinal and nutritional disorders
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary clinical programs, collaborating with surgical, nutrition, and allied health teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient services, including advanced diagnostic evaluation, therapeutic interventions, and longitudinal care.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, fostering excellence in clinical practice and education.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical protocol development, and efforts to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
  • Contribute to academic and institutional missions through scholarly activity, program development, and service on committees.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree
  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
  • Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology
  • 3 years pediatric residency/3 years fellowship pediatric gastroenterology

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated interest or expertise in areas such as motility, aerodigestive disorders, nutrition, intestinal rehabilitation, functional gastrointestinal disorders
  • Commitment to education, quality improvement, and program development
