- Shift: Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm
We are seeking a dynamic Cook Supervisor to support and lead our kitchen team! In this role, you will oversee daily kitchen operations, actively participate in meal plan preparation and production, and support both food service & custodial functions. The Cook Supervisor plays an important role in ensuring tasks are completed effectively to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen environment.
- Supervise and support food service employees to ensure efficient and effective daily kitchen operations.
- Coordinate and participate in the preparation, cooking, packaging, and distribution of large-volume meals.
- Collaborate with the Kitchen Manager to develop menus, standardized recipes, production schedules, and sanitation plans.
- Plan daily production requirements and assign tasks to kitchen staff.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, meal presentation, and order accuracy.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products following FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
- Maintain inventory of food, supplies, and kitchen materials and assist with ordering and replenishment as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all HACCP guidelines, food safety standards, sanitation requirements, and applicable health department regulations.
- Complete and maintain required HACCP logs, temperature records, production reports, and related documentation.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Manager to develop menus, recipes, and cleaning schedules.
- Inspect kitchen equipment and work areas regularly to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Support custodial and sanitation activities to ensure facility cleanliness and compliance with food service standards.
- Train, coach, and monitor team members on food preparation techniques, safe food handling procedures, equipment operation, and sanitation practices.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to kitchen staff to promote productivity, teamwork, and quality service.
- Assist in addressing operational challenges and implementing process improvements that support efficient kitchen operations.
What You'll Need to be Successful:
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in food preparation and kitchen operations, preferably in a large-scale commercial, institutional, healthcare, military, school, correctional, or similar food service environment.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in quantity food production.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience Preparing meals in high-volume production environments.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, HACCP principles, and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Possess a valid and verifiable driver's license.
Bonus if You Have These Skills:
- ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety certification.
- Experience supporting Meals on Wheels, senior nutrition programs, school nutrition programs, healthcare food service, or other community-based feeding programs.
- Experience preparing and modifying therapeutic diets, including chopped, ground, and pureed meals.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills, with the ability to effectively supervise staff, provide constructive feedback, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, manage production schedules, and ensure operational efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to identify operational challenges, implement effective solutions, and support continuous process improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees, management, vendors, and community partners.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality meals that meet established nutritional, portion, and presentation standards.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while consistently meeting quality, food safety, sanitation, and customer service standards.
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure continuity of operations and achievement of departmental goals.

Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Standing & Movement: Frequently stand, walk, and move throughout the kitchen, production, storage, and receiving areas for the majority of the workday, often without extended opportunities to sit.
- Lifting Requirements: Routinely lift, carry, push, and transport food products, ingredients, cookware, trays, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Repetitive Motion: Regularly bend, reach, stoop, twist, stir, chop, scoop, portion, package, and perform other repetitive food preparation and cleaning tasks.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, steamers, kettles, slicers, mixers, food processors, dish machines, and other food production equipment.
- Climbing Tasks: Occasionally use step stools or ladders to access storage shelves, inventory, and equipment.
- Temperature Exposure: Frequently work in environments with exposure to heat from ovens, stoves, steam, and dishwashing equipment, as well as cold temperatures in refrigerators and freezers.
- Noise Levels: Work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to moderate to high noise levels from kitchen equipment, ventilation systems, and food production activities.
- Odor Exposure: Regular exposure to food odors, cleaning products, sanitizers, steam, and cooking fumes.
- Work Surfaces: Ability to stand and work on concrete, tile, or other hard surfaces for extended periods.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required to wear appropriate PPE, including gloves, aprons, hair restraints, and slip-resistant, closed-toe footwear.
- Wet & Slippery Surfaces: Regular exposure to wet floors and work areas due to food preparation, cleaning, dishwashing, and sanitation activities; adherence to safety protocols is required.
