POSITION SUMMARY
HR Generalist will manage the day-to-day Human Resources operations and activities in accordance with company and legal guidelines. Serve as a primary point of contact for staff, ensuring compliance with laws and advising leadership on people management and Rochelle Community Hospital culture. Fully supports the Human Resources team to develop and continuously improve HR/Hospital programs, initiatives, policies, procedures and employee relations.

Minimum Education Required:
  • Associate's degree in human resources or related field; any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field preferred.

Licensure/Certification or credentials:
  • HR certification a plus (SHRM or HRCI).

Experience Level:
  • Mid-Level (2-5 years), Min 2 years' experience as an HR Coordinator.

Skills/Competency:
  • Understands all HR functions.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Efficient HR administration and people management skills.
  • Must have knowledge and be proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Office Suite and related HR software.
  • Excellent record keeping skills.
  • Works comfortably under pressure, able to meet strict deadlines, ability to prioritize and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to establish rapport at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to manage difficult conversations.
  • Administrative skills to include planning, coordinating, team building, organization, and project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, decision making, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ACTIVITIES
Typical Working Conditions:
Fosters collaboration, interaction, open communication, and employee well-being, leading to excellent patient care and job satisfaction. Working in hospitals/clinics involves interacting with patients-other staff-providers-public, etc. and exposure to communicable disease, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, cleaning fluids, medical waste, radiation and other hazardous conditions common to the healthcare environment. Human Resource Generalist will work in a controlled office environment, operating during regular business hours. The daily working conditions involve extensive computer use, frequent phone calls, and high levels of interpersonal interaction, which occasionally include navigating stressful conflict situations or handling sensitive employee relations.

Physical Demands/Activities:
  • The ideal candidate must be able to perform essential job functions and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Collaboration is constant. Staff must frequently communicate with patients, doctors, nurses, technicians, other staff, administrative personnel and outside customers.
  • Communication- Ability to accurately, clearly and effectively exchange information, ideas, and feedback with diverse teams, patients, community, visitors, medical staff and clients. Strong written and interpersonal skills, with an openness to adapting communication methods to ensure team accessibility and excellent patient care.
  • Exertion: - LIGHT WORK: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a small amount of force up to 10 lbs frequently to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
  • Mobility: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Travel: May travel to attend events, job fairs, conferences, or external training.
  • Confidentiality: Heavily bound by confidentiality, managing highly sensitive personal and financial data regarding an organization's workforce.
