Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
*Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; possession of a license as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the State of Georgia.
*Completion of a master's degree level nurse practitioner program with certification as a Nurse Practitioner as recognized by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
*Attainment of DNCB Certification for the provision of dermatologic care.
*Five years of experience delivering dermatologic care within a dermatology practice.
*Current BLS Certification or attainment within 30 days of start.
OR
*Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program and certification as a Physician Assistant recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board.
*Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license issued by the State of Georgia.
* Five years of experience delivering dermatologic care within a dermatology practice.
* Current BLS Certification or attainment within 30 days of start.
Position Summary
The part-time Nurse Practitioner for Dermatology plays a key role within Medical Services and reports to the Primary Care Lead Physician. This position's primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive, age-appropriate dermatologic care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and patient education for eligible members of the University Community at the University of Georgia Health Center. In collaboration with primary care clinicians, specialty providers, nursing staff, and other Health Center personnel, this role also serves as a dermatologic resource in both consultative and referral capacities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
* Demonstrated knowledge of clinical practice, including comprehensive physical and dermatologic assessment techniques.
* Proficiency in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic dermatologic conditions, including acne care, minor procedures, and isotretinoin therapy.
* Skilled in the use of electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage patients, colleagues, and interdisciplinary teams.
* Ability to work effectively with others, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and compassion in patient care.

Dermatologic Clinic Care
* Evaluation and diagnosis of common skin conditions.
* Management of chronic dermatologic conditions, including treatment adjustment and ongoing monitoring
* Performance of full skin examination and skin care screenings.
* Identification and management of suspicious lesions, including biopsy when indicated
* Coordination of appropriate referrals to community specialists.
* Treatment of benign skin growths (e.g., warts, skin tags) using procedures such as cryotherapy or excision
* Management of acne, including prescription therapies and isotretinoin monitoring
* Treatment of minor infections, rashes, allergic reactions, and inflammatory skin conditions
* Patient education on skincare, disease prevention, and treatment adherence
* Prescription and management of dermatologic medications (topical, oral, and injectable)
