Job Description
ECU College of Engineering and Technology is currently seeking an Office Assistant for the Dean's Office.

Job Description:
Duties include performing light clerical work, data entry, filing, assist with mail-sort and process, sorting, collating, typing, maintaining records, running errands, giving information, receiving and routing telephone calls, making copies, unpacking materials, assisting setting up, breaking down, and cleaning up for all CET events, and operating ordinary office machines and equipment. Perform related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
The student's work schedule will be made to accommodate the student's school schedule and workload. CET Dean's Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8: 00 am - 5: 00 pm.
GPA Requirement Minimum of 2.0
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Job Expectations:

  • Independently perform daily duties on a regular basis according to the "Schedule of Duties".
  • Perform tasks/duties as requested.
  • Required to work during breaks and between semesters and must provide own means of transportation to and from work during these times due to ECU transit (buses) not running:

    • Spring and Fall Breaks
    • Days between January 2nd and the first day of classes for spring semester
    • Days between last day of exams for spring semester and the first day of classes for 1st summer session (based upon student eligibility)
    • Weeks between the last day of exams for 2nd summer session and the first day of classes for fall semester (based on student availability)



  • It is very important that the student is able to report to work during these times.
  • Be flexible and willing to work any schedule assigned by supervisor.
  • Report to work each day scheduled on time for the shift unless the student is sick, previously asked to be off (approval required), or an emergency.
  • Must have good attendance; our office depends on the student worker being at work, especially covering the front desk.
  • Required to call in when unable to work scheduled hours or will be late for work.
  • Required to fill in for other student workers in their absence.
  • Office has a dress policy and expect the student's attire to be clean and neat.
  • Act in a professional manner at all times as the student will be working in a dean's Office.
