What to Expect

The Responsible Sourcing & Supplier Due Diligence Team is looking for a highly skilled and motivated specialist to support Tesla's Net-Zero Emissions 2040 target. The ideal candidate for the Senior Supplier GHG Emissions Specialist position should have expertise in GHG accounting and decarbonization project tracking. This role supports our supply chain manufacturing and engineering operations by integrating sustainability into core processes, ensuring compliance, and driving environmental initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to calculate accurate GHG emissions footprints and identify opportunities to reduce emissions, track progress, and communicate technical data effectively.


What You'll Do
  • GHG Emissions Calculations: engage with Tesla's supply chain to assess, verify and manage Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and material carbon footprint across Tesla supply base using GHG Protocol/ISO standards
  • Track Supplier Decarbonization: Monitor supplier emissions reductions projects (e.g., energy efficiency, renewables), develop KPIs, and report on progress in support of Tesla's targets
  • Internal Capacity Building: Partner with internal teams, Supply Chain, Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to increase awareness, understanding and uptake of sustainability and low-carbon concepts into end-to-end product development
  • Reporting: Create auditable tracking mechanisms including dashboards to communicate progress updates for stakeholders and drive visibility with leadership
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for emission reductions and resource efficiency aligned with ISO 14001/50001 standards as well as industry initiatives such as the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative
  • Environmental Stewardship: Support water/energy conservation, air quality requirements, resource efficiency and land-use initiatives

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical engineeering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in upstream manufacturing, specifically metals or plastic sectors, and well versed in GHG accounting in a manufacturing setting and environmental/sustainability programs
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research background with experience collecting and managing large datasets to identify trends, risks or impacts
  • Understand social and/or environmental issues within supply chains
  • Present complex issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Manage multiple initiatives and timelines at the same time
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills and experience working across multiple stakeholders

    Expected Compensation
    $104,000 - $192,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
