The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking a Production Trainer for the Paris, KY site. The Trainer is responsible for instruction and training in production occupations that will prepare the Packaging Operators for entry-level employment and certification in the production departments. Develop and deliver training to all associates within the production department. Training can include, but is not limited to: QWI's; safety; business systems, etc. Identify areas to improve processes and reduce errors and develop training to support those objectives. The instructor is responsible for developing candidate skills, knowledge, and attitudes commensurate to the goals of the program and effectively using materials and equipment to meet goals.

What we're looking for

  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree in a life science or engineering discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years prior experience in a cGMP manufacturing environment, along with general understanding of semi-automated and/or automated equipment is preferred
  • Knowledge of computer applications, SAP, ETQ is desirable
  • Ability to evaluate internal customer needs, and respond with appropriate action/delivery

How you will thrive

  • Identifies potential training needs and develops applicable training material.
  • Conducts safety, quality and first day orientation classes for new hires.
  • Responsible to effectively teach knowledge, concepts, and skills encompassed within the curriculum.
  • Makes all arrangements necessary for the placement of trainees, capabilities and QWI; supervises trainees in that training.
  • Prepares and submits a course of study including program objectives, student performance objectives, and daily lesson plans.
  • Continually reviews the curriculum and makes necessary recommendations for changes in process.
  • Conducts regular process audits of QWI's and behavior observations of employees in specific process.
  • At the completion of associate's training, completes appropriate sign-off of QWI's.
  • Accurately and punctually submits to the Supervisor all forms and completed trainings for required filing.
  • Attends meetings as required by the Supervisor.
  • Provides effective coaching and mentoring while acting as a liaison between the Supervisor and the associate
  • Analyzes instructional situations and develops an effective course of action to achieve maximum learning by the associates(s)
  • Performs other duties as assigned with or without accommodation

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, dust or gases. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Required to stand and walk for a large part of the working day. Physical requirements include talking, hearing, bending/stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulder height, crouching, kneeling, balancing and pushing/pulling. Also requires some lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Use of both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating. Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
