Job Overview:

The Product Development Engineering Manager oversees all activities related to the IR brands Thomas, Welch, and ADI for vacuum pump and compressor development, across multiple locations. This role is responsible for resource planning, project development planning, growing engineering talent, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The manager serves as the primary interface between development engineering and Sales / Product Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and develop a team of engineers, leading the entire development process from ideation through SOP for air compressors, diaphragm pumps, and vacuum pumps.
  • Oversee and prioritize the resolution of complex product development issues to meet project dates
  • Be a product development process leader.
  • Setup and organize efficient engineering activities in collaboration with PMO
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and R&D leadership to align on priorities and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to development project deliverables
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence within the team.
  • Manage team workload, performance, and professional development, including recruiting, training, and performance reviews.



Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution required
  • 5+ years managing an Engineering group in Product Development. Must demonstrate specific experience developing and launching complex products.
  • 12+ years of Mechanical Engineering including deep experience utilizing CAD, FEA, and/or CFD and 1-D simulation tools to design electromechanical fluid devices



Preferences:

  • Ability to manage Engineering team effectively
    Expert in Stage Gate product development process execution.

  • Strategic planning, project management, and process improvement
  • Strong mentoring capabilities to help develop junior engineers on team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
  • MSOffice Expert
  • High level practitioner of 6Sigma Development tools
  • FMEA expert Expert level technical competence in Fluid Power (Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electromechanical Systems)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to work internationally across cultures



Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

  • Availability to travel up to 25 % of the time (e.g., customer visits, training at our technical centers, trade shows, etc.).
