CDL Equipment Shuttle Driver
Are you a safety-focused, dependable CDL driver who takes pride in transporting equipment professionally and efficiently? Penn Power Group is seeking a CDL Equipment Shuttle Driver to support our operations by safely transporting trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment between our branch locations, customers, vendors, auctions, dealerships, and job sites. This position is critical to maintaining efficient fleet operations while providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are representative of the position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as business needs require.
- Safely transport medium and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, buses, refrigerated trailers, construction equipment, and other commercial vehicles between company locations and customer sites.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Secure loads and equipment using proper tie-down and cargo securement procedures.
- Complete all required DOT logs, vehicle inspection reports, mileage reports, and electronic documentation accurately.
- Maintain compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and company safety policies.
- Coordinate transportation schedules with branch personnel and dispatch to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment as required using forklifts, pallet jacks, winches, or other material handling equipment.
- Operate rollback trucks, flatbeds, tractors, and other company transportation equipment safely and professionally.
- Verify vehicle condition before transport and document any existing damage.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly maintained company vehicles and trailers.
- Communicate professionally with customers during deliveries and pickups while representing Penn Power Group in a positive manner.
- Assist branches with moving equipment within facilities, staging units, and supporting operational needs.
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns involving company transportation equipment immediately.
- Follow all company policies regarding safety, accident reporting, and defensive driving.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum two years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Valid Class A CDL required.
- Current DOT Medical Card required or ability to obtain and maintain.
- Clean driving record with acceptable MVR.
- Experience transporting heavy trucks, trailers, construction equipment, or commercial vehicles preferred.
- Experience operating rollback trucks, flatbeds, or lowboy trailers is a plus.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
- Basic computer and smartphone skills for electronic logs, GPS, and transportation software.
- Ability to read maps, GPS applications, and route efficiently.

- Regularly work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Frequently work around moving vehicles, heavy equipment, forklifts, and repair shop operations.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally more than 75 pounds with assistance.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, winches, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Travel throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding states as business needs require.
