Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a Civil / Site Engineer - Senior Project Manager to support the growth of our Philadelphia practice. This role offers the opportunity to lead civil/site engineering projects in the public and private realm while working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

About the Role

The position will initially focus on managing and delivering civil engineering design for park, trail, higher-education, and community redevelopment projects, working closely with landscape architects, planners, and fellow engineers, business development support, and team management roles including mentoring, weekly scheduling, and helping to refine standards and protocols to improve team efficiency and design consistency . Over time, this role is expected to take on broader leadership responsibility as the candidate would help the Office Director to grow the site-civil/water team by in his efforts to expand NV5's sitecivil capabilities in the Philadelphia region (and beyond) with an emphasis on sustainable and resilient infrastructure.

Responsibilities

    Manage civil/site engineering projects through planning, design, permitting, and construction. This includes design deliverables, project or task budgets, and project schedules
  • Overseeing the design team's development of site layouts, grading and drainage plans, utility designs, and stormwater management systems, as well as other deliverables such as specifications, estimating, and other project deliverables
  • Reacclimate with PWD GSI design standards and procedures to assist the team where needed.
  • Coordinate closely with internal NV5 disciplines, clients, and external stakeholders
  • Oversee scope, schedule, budget, and provide quality assurance/quality control for team deliverables relating to site/civil engineering or site development projects, as well as other deliverables to support other internal teams' projects involving parks, trails, streets, and waterfronts. Signing and sealing of design drawings and permitting submissions.
  • Assist Director to lead weekly team scheduling and monitoring schedules for project and proposal deadlines
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and agencies
  • Mentor junior staff and support team development, which includes training staff to be proficient in Civil 3D and SSA
  • Assist Director to develop and refine design standards, templates, and protocols to improve efficiency and consistency of design deliverables
  • Assist with proposals and business development efforts as needed
  • Assist Director to refine and implement business development strategy to further grow the site-civil/water team in the Philadelphia office. Duties to also include:
    • business development with existing or legacy clients including developers, architects, and local universities, identifying new clients and assisting in developing new clients, and leading internal business development efforts with the company to grow the site-civil/water team.
    • Active Participation in relevant professional societies or organizations that can aid in growing clientele and promotion of our firm to potential clients
    • Identifying and participating in relevant conferences or events (i.e. ULI, AIA Philadelphia, Green Building United, etc.) to promote our firm to potential clients


Qualifications

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or similar)
  • Approximately 8+ years of civil/site engineering experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading projects or technical teams
  • Strong background in site design, stormwater management, permitting, and construction documentation
  • Experience in the planning and design of urban stormwater management systems within public rights-of-ways as well as private development sites
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering or related field
  • Experience preparing technical proposals and fee estimates
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, as well as HydroCAD, SWMM, StormCAD, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with GIS concepts
  • Sustainabilityfocused credentials or training (LEED, Envision, DBIA, etc.)
