Job Description

Summary

The Senior Student Services Coordinator serves as the operational leader for university-wide family engagement initiatives designed to strengthen student success, belonging, retention, and institutional affinity. This position provides leadership for comprehensive family engagement strategies through large-scale programming, strategic communications, relationship management, assessment, and cross-campus collaboration.

Operating with a high degree of independence, the Sr. Student Services Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the Mizzou Families program while serving as the primary point of contact for current and prospective student families. The position leads the planning and execution of signature university events, oversees family communications reaching more than 60,000 households, supervises student staff, manages program budgets, and develops partnerships across the institution to enhance the family experience.

The position represents Mizzou Families throughout the university and serves as a key contributor to the Division of Student Affairs' student success initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive family engagement initiatives and innovative programs that support student success through meaningful family partnerships.
  • Provide operational leadership for signature university programs, including Family Weekend, Fall Move-In, Summer Welcome activities, Spring Countdown and Summer Send-Off programs, Mizzou Sibs & Kids Day, and other family engagement opportunities.
  • Direct all operational logistics for programs and events, including project timelines, campus coordination, vendor management, risk management practices, and event implementation.
  • Manage program budgets, purchasing, contracts, reconciliation, and fiscal stewardship in accordance with university policies.
  • Lead comprehensive communications for current and prospective student families through the CampusESP platform, including audience segmentation, messaging strategy, campaign development, analytics, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Partner with campus communication offices and other university stakeholders to ensure consistent, timely, and engaging family communications.
  • Serve as the primary resource and liaison for families throughout the student lifecycle, responding to complex concerns, maintaining FERPA compliance, and connecting families with appropriate campus resources.
  • Represent Mizzou Families during recruitment and transition initiatives, including Admissions events, New Student Orientation, Countdown programs, Summer Welcome activities, and Move-In experiences.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management and campus partners to strengthen family engagement and support student success across the enrollment lifecycle.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees and volunteers, including assigning work, establishing priorities, providing coaching, and fostering leadership development and high-quality customer service.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with academic colleges, Student Affairs units, Enrollment Management, alumni, community organizations, and other campus partners to advance family engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate operational support for the Mizzou Families Advisory Council, including meeting logistics, communications, volunteer engagement, and committee initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret assessment data to evaluate program effectiveness, inform strategic planning, support evidence-based decision-making, and recommend improvements to programming, communications, and operations.

Other Duties

Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and the Dean of Students Office.

Shift

Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Work Location: On Campus

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • Experience working with large-scale events and family initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan programs, manage budgets, and assess outcomes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, collaboration and partnership-building skills.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $53,976.00 - $64,000.00 per year
