Job Summary

If you're looking to be at the leading edge of progress, we're seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Design Engineer to join our dynamic team.
Ecoplant is seeking a System Design Engineer to help drive the company's continued expansion in the United States & Canada by being the product technical expert for the North America market. Your primary responsibilities will be to support the Ecoplant sales team as the EcoPlant controls expert during the sales process; design the system architecture and provide technical documentation and support during system installation process; and support troubleshooting with technical expertise for installed systems. You will liaison with the product management team to provide feedback on product design and product enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-sales support to the sales team as the technical expert on the product and participate in customer calls as necessary to overcome customer objections.
- Be the first line of support to answer customer questions on architecture / data security protocols.
- Occasionally perform a site survey / audit at the customer site, as needed, as part of the pre-sale process to qualify or design a solution for a complex installation.
- Design the system architecture for a new installation, including the selection of hardware and sensor location; generate the required bill of materials; generate the piping & instrumentation diagram (P&ID) for the new system; and identify the compressor integration strategy.
- Provide technical specifications to the Ecoplant Engine team to finalize the Dynamic Engine design.
- Build the customer dashboard prior to installation and support the installation team with remote technical support during installation.
- Complete all required technical / system documentation post deployment, including as-builts, register mapping, and compressor integration details.
- Manage the troubleshooting process for any technical issues post-installation, including managing the escalation process to product management and R&DE, as required.
- Liaison to product management team to provide feedback on product design, product enhancements, and support the development of the product roadmap.
- Support the training and onboarding of new associates with technical product training, as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and/or combination of education and at least 5 years related industrial controls support experience required.
- Demonstrated experience with system architecture design, with a focus on industrial systems.
- 2+ years' industrial IT / networking experience and a willingness to learn new skills with installing IoT devices, including advanced industrial communication protocols required.
- 2+ years of customer service experience in a technical industry.
- Ability to read blueprints & schematics, coupled with strong technical problem-solving skills required.
- Demonstrated understanding of IoT communication protocols (such as Modbus, Profibus, TCP/IP), networking, and data security.
- The ability to manage multiple urgent issues in parallel.
- Proficient in computer applications such as Google and Microsoft Office suite (including Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel) required.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
- This position is eligible for remote work in the continental United States.
- Interested candidates should have access to a major airport for travel.
- Travel up to 30% of time across North America.
Preferences
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field, such as Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Experience with industrial compressed air systems.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to work independently as well as guide the work of others.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail and self-motivation.
Pay Range
The total pay range for this role is $85,000 - $135,000. The actual pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Ingersoll Rand, it is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the pay range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. ??
