Work Schedule:
100% FTE, day shift. Hours are Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm-11:00 pm with rotating weekends and holidays. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will work in Microbiology at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

Pay:

  • The pay range listed reflects both titles.
  • This position may be eligible for up to a $8,000 sign-on bonus (pro-rated based on FTE).
  • Additional components of compensation may include:
    • Evening and night shift differential
    • Weekend differential
  • Relocation assistance may be available for qualified applicants

We are seeking a Senior Medical Lab Technician OR Medical Technologist - Microbiology to:

  • Perform testing in the clinical laboratories (any complexity).
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making skills, ability to work independently, and the ability to take on teaching/training responsibilities as needed.
  • Work as an effective team member as demonstrated by good relations with physicians, clinic staff and co-workers.

If Senior Medical Lab Tech

Education:

  • Associate's Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology Required or
  • Education and training equivalent to an associate degree to include 60 semester hours including either: 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or
  • 24 semester hours of science courses Required

Work Experience

  • 1 year of experience performing moderate and some high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory and successful completion of competency assessment Required or
  • 2 years in a clinical laboratory Required

License & Certification:

  • Certification Medical Laboratory Technician by the board of American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent Preferred

If Medical Technologist:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology Required OR Bachelor's Degree must include minimally 60 semester hours or equivalent, that includes either:
    • 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses OR
    • 24 semester hours - 6 chemistry, 6 biology and 12 chemistry, biology, medical laboratory technology in any combination Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) Preferred
  • Master's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MLS) or related science or healthcare field Preferred

Work Experience:

  • No minimum work experience required
  • 1 year healthcare or lab related work experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Certification (Medical Lab Science, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Banking, Molecular Biology) by the board of American Society of Clinical Pathologists or similar agency Preferred
