Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer II ensures maximum cost effectiveness and reliability of manufacturing processes and workflow using advanced manufacturing technologies. Determines the methods and sequences of manufacturing operations for moderately complex products and machine parts and assemblies; ensures that products and processes meet customer quality requirements. Provides producibility input and manufacturing plans for product design or modification.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct or indirect reports.

This position works closely with production supervision, and personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation, validation, and continuous improvement of vision assembly systems used for inspection, verification, alignment, traceability, and error-proofing.
  • Develop and maintain process specifications for camera systems, lighting, sensors, fixtures, controls, and associated software interfaces.
  • Partner with automation, controls, and equipment suppliers to define system requirements, acceptance criteria, and integration plans.
  • Troubleshoot vision system performance issues, including image quality, false rejects, missed detections, lighting variation, part presentation, and fixture-related variation.
  • Support equipment qualification, process validation, operator training, and production launch readiness.
  • Establish standard work and control methods for vision system setup, calibration, maintenance, and changeover.
  • Ensure PFMEAs accurately reflect process risks, failure modes, causes, effects, prevention controls, and detection control.

  • Use PFMEAs to define detection controls for the visions assembly system.
  • Evaluate assembly processes for ergonomic risk factors, including reach, force, posture, repetition, lifting, and workstation layout.
  • Design and implement ergonomic improvements to reduce operator strain and improve productivity.

  • Work closely with production supervisors, operators, quality engineers, maintenance technicians, automation engineers, and suppliers.

  • Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and production transfers.
  • Communicate technical information clearly through reports, presentations, drawings, and process documentation.
  • Participate in capital equipment planning, justification, installation, and startup activities.
  • Ensure manufacturing solutions support Parker's goals for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction.

Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering field with 2 or more years of experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and production engineering principles, concepts and general business operations.
  • General knowledge of aerospace or similar industry products and legal and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing plants.
  • Experience with vision assembly systems preferred.
  • Ability to effectively apply continuous improvement methods to quality and manufacturing functions (e.g. pull systems, process mapping, JIT).
  • Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to work on a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of the situation or data requires thorough identification of factors and analysis of impact.
  • Ability to work within general work objectives regarding projects and team goals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and policies and recommend changes to procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management.
  • Ability to respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
