NATURE AND SCOPE:


SVP, Commercial Banking Regional Credit Officers ("RCO") report directly to the EVP, Commercial Banking and oversee all Commercial Banking credit functions in their region. The positions are both strategic and managerial. The positions work with the EVP and Executive Management to improve and maintain the Commercial Lending Policy and Procedure Manual. SVP, Commercial Banking RCOs will be integral in deciding the organizational structure of the credit team and the technological tools needed to most efficiently operate. The positions oversee regional VP and AVP Commercial Banking Underwriting Managers and Credit Administration staff and are responsible for providing a professional development and training platform for the team. This position is also responsible for monitoring activities and necessary reports to ensure all tasks such as annual commercial credit reviews, new credit requests, financial statement collection, past due loan payment collection and problem loan management are accomplished in a timely and accurate fashion. Finally, SVP, Commercial Banking RCOs sit on loan committee.


REQUIREMENTS:



  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field. Master's degree preferred. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.




  1. 10+ years of underwriting and/or commercial lending experience. Experience should include analyzing complex commercial real estate and Middle Market C&I financing requests.




  1. Two years of managing, auditing or direct supervision within a business credit department.

  2. Demonstrated process improvement experience developing work processes that reduce errors and increase productivity.




  1. Prior management or involvement in the selection and implementation of new technological tools is considered a plus.




  1. Must have experience or be able to gain proficiency in all programs and systems used for this job, including loan origination and tickler systems.




  1. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills and the ability to work independently as a valuable team member in a dynamic environment.




  1. Must have the ability to use independent judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.




  1. Must develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to this position. Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all job-related State and Federal laws and regulations.




PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
:



  1. Reviews department workflow and analysis for efficiency and effectiveness.




  1. Develop and enhance procedures, guidelines and standards to maximize efficiency and consistency in areas related to commercial loan underwriting and risk analysis.




  1. Review and update Commercial Lending Policy and Procedures Manual. Ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.




  1. Develops and displays knowledge about regional economic conditions impacting business members in their region and ensuring awareness and mitigation of these conditions in all credit analysis completed by their credit staff. Economic conditions that present additional risk should be raised to the EVP and analyzed, as needed, by the RCOs.




  1. Provide expert guidance on the analysis of complex credit requests.




  1. Responds to internal and external audits ensuring necessary information is available and that appropriate responses are provided. Institutes remedial action as necessary.




  1. Ensure risk ratings are appropriately determined and applied across all loan types.




  1. Develop an annual training schedule for the credit team and determine individualized professional development plans as deemed appropriate.




  1. Oversee the preparation and present credit-related commercial loan reports. Coordinate with CFO on portfolio-level analytics.




  1. Responsible for the maintenance, selection and assistance in implementation of critical technology for the Commercial Banking Department.




  1. Direct Reports: Underwriting Manager, Senior Credit Analysts and Portfolio Managers.




  1. Oversees the preparation of required checklists for follow-up, including: financial statements, personal statements, tax returns, exceptions, etc.




  1. Responsible for ensuring underwriting completed in compliance with Landmark policies, procedures and structure.




  1. Performs other duties as assigned.
