Our Cypress Bend team is a close-knit group of 300+ skilled employees who take pride in what we do. Together, we make paperboard used in products across the United States, including food packaging, plates, cups and more.

Located in the historic Mississippi River Delta, this facility offers a slower pace with plenty of outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, and biking. Many employees commute from nearby towns such as McGehee, Monticello, Dumas, Dermott and Lake Village, which are known for affordable living, strong local pride and family-friendly schools.

The Cypress Bend team also supports local cultural and the arts, with past contributions to the WWII Japanese Internment Museum and SEArk Concert Association.

What you will do

The Maintenance Supervisor focused on facilities management is responsible for managing the planning, implementation and maintenance of facility infrastructure, buildings, moving equipment, roads, railways, general grounds and landfill while effectively allocating/managing hourly crews of maintenance personnel to execute work in a safe and efficient manner. This may include working with vendors and contactors providing oversight in designing, reviewing or implementing improvements in the construction or operations of site facilities, ensuring that all areas of responsibility are operational and in compliance. This role may work with engineering teams to support continuous in-plant engineering support of mill maintenance, outage and engineering requirements.

Organizational Leadership



  • Communicates proactively with site stakeholders which may include maintenance and operations leaders, staff, schedulers, stores and engineering to ensure clarity of work and required materials
  • Coordinate own activities and those of assigned crew(s) to assure that all maintenance work is conducted in a low-cost culture and achieving optimum equipment and process reliability
  • Provide positive, proactive direction and management to assigned crews. Conduct performance reviews and manage payroll approval process
  • Coordinate and facilitate with planning department for development of weekly maintenance schedule. Develop and maintain crew schedules
  • Oversee maintenance and project management activities, focused on facilities upkeep and management
  • Responsible for weekend and nightly mill wide calls


Safety and Environmental



  • Champions safety in construction and vendor management activities; leads/participates in meetings as needed
  • Ensure structured, constructive safety meetings are conducted and follow up on resolutions for those items of concern which are brought up in safety meetings
  • Provide regular inspections of work areas to assure that good housekeeping practices are followed and that all department area maintenance facilities and tools are kept in good repair
  • Responsible for supporting environmental and landfill management activities to ensure compliance with permitting and agency requirements
  • Instruct and lead crew in safe work practices in pursuit of zero injuries
  • Verify that all safety recordkeeping is done in a timely and compliant manner
  • Fully support the mill's behavior-based safety program and assure that area maintenance employees are given the necessary time required for making safety observations


Production Maintenance, Project Planning and Execution



  • Provides technical assistance to production, reliability, engineering, and quality groups as needed to solve equipment and process-related problems and develops methods to improve processes
  • Optimize site infrastructure and project implementations by investigating and eliminating root causes of facility, construction, and equipment failures
  • May manage all phases of assigned capital projects
  • May assist or lead in the coordination of outage planning activities and management of Gantt charting and corrective action activities
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of maintenance activities being performed throughout the mill
  • Identify and correct any potential problems (troubleshooting) and take appropriate action necessary to prevent serious equipment failure
  • Prioritize, plan, organize and execute maintenance shutdowns and shop rebuilds
  • Plan, organize and control maintenance timeline and cost


Facilities and Equipment Reliability



  • Recommends new infrastructure equipment installations and modification to facilities to enable achievement of site objectives

    • Determines building requirements including utilities, water, sewer, electrical and hazardous material requirement, assuring systems are compatible
    • Conducts building, equipment, facility and infrastructure inspections to identify any issues related to structural or other support systems


  • Creates and implements preventative maintenance procedures for maintaining buildings, grounds, road and railway infrastructure and all rolling equipment at the location
  • Develops and maintains listings of routine tasks/replacements and non-routine facilities upgrades to ensure facilities are well-maintained and contributes to long-term budgeting planning exercises
  • Documents procedures, incidents, maintenance activities and keeps an inventory of building components and equipment
  • Monitor and identify equipment which has excessive/repetitive maintenance costs
  • Responsible for purchase order process on equipment repairs

What you will need



  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Degreed engineer highly preferred with an emphasis in mechanical, electrical, civil, construction engineering or similar disciplines; a combination of pertinent work experience and education may be considered
  • 5+ years' of experience in engineering and project management, preferably in the paper industry with an emphasis in reliability or facilities engineering experience
  • 3+ years' experience supervising employees and/or contractors
  • Working knowledge of construction best practices, manufacturing facility design, building management systems and facility operations/industry practices strongly desired
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Project, including interactive Gantt charting
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with vendors, managers, and production employees to achieve goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with and have a good working knowledge of construction and repair codes (ASME, API, NBIC, NEC etc.)
  • Must be capable of understanding and troubleshooting complex industrial systems and equipment
  • Understanding of LEAN manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) concepts preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise employees
  • High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete or uneven surfaces
  • Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment
  • Dirt, noise, odor, & temperature extremes
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals used in manufacturing process
