Job Description

The University of Missouri is embarking on a multi-year transformation to implement a new cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, replacing its current PeopleSoft HCM and Finance platforms. We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll ERP Lead to play a critical role in this strategic initiative and provide ongoing payroll system expertise post-implementation.
The Payroll ERP Lead will serve as both a strategic and operational leader within the HR Information Systems (HRIS) team. This role will drive the configuration, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Payroll module within the new ERP environment. Working closely with cross-functional partners and external implementation consultants, this position ensures accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations while enhancing the employee experience.

Responsibilities include:
Oversee end-to-end delivery of new ERP system implementation for Payroll and Timekeeping functionality, including discovery, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.

* Serve as the Cloud ERP expert for the Payroll and Timekeeping area, aligning system design with business processes and goals.
* Partner closely with HR/Payroll leaders at campus and MU Health Care to understand business needs and translate into ERP specifications and requirements. Champion organizational change by promoting adoption of new payroll processes, tools, and policies.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline payroll processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance accuracy. Identify and implement innovative solutions leveraging HR/ERP technologies, automation, and analytics.
* Partner with technical leads to ensure integration design, data quality and security are aligned to business needs and best practices. Manages the validation of conversion data to the new system.
* Lead initiatives to document business processes, functional specs, test cases, and user guides. Assist with training plans and content validation.
* Serve as a subject matter expert for new Payroll system inquiries and escalations
* Monitor legislative changes that may impact payroll processes and compliance. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Evaluate and adapt processes in response to evolving regulatory, system, and organizational needs
* Support year-end processing, including W-2 reconciliation, audits, and reporting
* Troubleshoot issues and provide clearly documented solutions
* Assist with creation and maintenance of Payroll reporting and dashboards

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, and five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* Certified Payroll Professional from the American Payroll Association
* Experience working in the Higher Education and Healthcare industries
* Experience with Absence Management
* Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
* Strong customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills
* 5 years' experience with Payroll in Workday or Oracle.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000 per year
Grade: GGS-012
