KOMU 8 News is looking for an authentic, collaborative and audience-focused morning meteorologist to join our award-winning weather team. KOMU 8 in Columbia, Missouri, is unlike any other television station in the country. As the NBC affiliate owned by the Missouri School of Journalism, we have a dual mission: serving mid-Missouri while helping educate the next generation of journalists. Every day you'll work alongside experienced professionals and talented students in one of the nation's premier teaching newsrooms. We're looking for a meteorologist who loves forecasting, thrives during severe weather, and enjoys connecting with viewers on-air, online, and in the community. Mid-Missouri gets all four seasons-from winter storms to extreme heat-you'll have the opportunity help keep viewers safe all year long. Your Responsibilities * Prepare and deliver accurate, compelling weather forecasts across multiple morning newscasts Weather is one of the most important commitments we make to our viewers. Our audience relies on KOMU 8 during severe weather and for everyday forecasts. You'll join an experienced, collaborative weather team with the tools and support needed to produce award-winning coverage while growing your career. Openings on our weather team are rare. 2am - 10am Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications
* 1-2 years of on-air forecasting experience (more experienced candidates are encouraged to apply) An AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) or NWA Seal is not required but a bonus! Anticipated Hiring Range
