Overview

MBP is looking for a Project Inspector to join our team and contribute to important healthcare capital and maintenance reserve projects in Nottoway County, Virginia. This role is ideal for professionals who want to grow their careers while making a tangible impact.

What You'll Do:

You will serve as an on-site representative of the owner, facilitating quality assurance, documentation, cost and schedule monitoring, and technical guidance. Acting as a link between contractors, the client, and project teams, you will help verify construction compliance, support decision-making, and maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

You will serve as an on-site representative of the owner, facilitating quality assurance, documentation, cost and schedule monitoring, and technical guidance. Acting as a link between contractors, the client, and project teams, you will help verify construction compliance, support decision-making, and maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include:

    Perform field checks of as-built plans to verify completeness
  • Monitor on-site compliance inspections for adherence to contract requirements, specifications, and codes
  • Coordinate and manage inspection activities and maintain quality assurance oversight
  • Verify construction aligns with plans, approved shop drawings, material lists, and applicable permits
  • Assist with required inspections, prepare punch lists, and verify completion of corrective items
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, daily reports, photos, and records of work performed
  • Review and track contractor monthly payment applications, submittals, and RFIs
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and participate in pre-construction and progress meetings
  • Conduct schedule reviews for project progress and accuracy
  • Inspect all phases of work and communicate necessary corrective actions to responsible parties
  • Identify and document non-compliant work and track resolutions
  • Support analytical assignments including constructability reviews, cost estimating, and CPM schedule analysis

Who We Are Looking For

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in construction inspection, construction management, engineering, or related fields
  • Proven ability to interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Experience supporting quality assurance, quality control, and compliance oversight
  • Background in sectors such as buildings, transportation, healthcare, education, or public infrastructure


Qualifications

Education/Knowledge:

  • High school diploma or GED with some technical school required; associate degree or higher strongly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering technology, project management, and construction materials
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Understanding of computations based on field measurements and basic mathematics
  • Training in areas such as building systems, civil engineering, project management, or materials testing
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and tools utilized for the assigned work
  • Familiarity with the Virginia Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM) preferred
  • Ability to learn and apply construction management information systems such as Procore, AWP, HICAM, or MBP's OnTrack system

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred
  • Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) preferred
  • Additional credentials such as CMAA or CACM preferred
  • Ability to obtain required client agency certifications

Skills and Abilities:

  • Specialized expertise in quality assurance and quality control techniques
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and reporting skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, web-based tools, and construction-related software
  • Capable of reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and contracts
  • Apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles for field adjustments
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for client and team interaction
  • Maintains tact and professionalism in sensitive situations
  • Physically able to stand, sit, climb ladders, work at heights, and navigate uneven terrain outdoors in various weather
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and willingness to travel regularly

Guidance/Responsibility:

  • Assigned to support the owner's objectives by conducting on-site inspections and monitoring compliance
  • Operates with limited oversight on technical tasks, following established policies and standards
  • Supports decision-making by providing verified observations and recommendations
  • Reports to a Team Leader or Group Manager and interacts directly with clients and contractors

Supervisory:

  • May provide functional guidance to Construction Inspectors or interns during project tasks
  • Receives direction from Engineers, Consultants, Project Managers, or Group Managers

Status: Full-time

The base salary range for this position is $71,300.00 to $85,600.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.

Requirements:

  • A fingerprint-based criminal history background check, DMV driving record check, reference verification, and work history review prior to employment
  • Valid driver's license and safety shoes required
