Summary: The Medical Assistant II, Certified provides routine clinical and administrative support toenhance patient access, communication, and care coordination. Serves as a primary resource for patient advice requests, medication refills, results communication, and electronic message management. Works under the clinical supervision of the provider for patient care activities, and under the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage live patient advice and medication refill phone lines.
- Review, prioritize, and respond to Epic InBasket messages, patient advice requests, and refill requests per established protocols.
- Communicate normal test results to patients and document interactions in the electronic medical record.
- Perform routine administrative CMA duties, including documentation, follow-up, and care coordination tasks.
- Provide clinical support, including patient rooming and intake activities, as needed to support clinic operations and staffing coverage.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Other information: Education Requirements: * None required as long as other position qualifications are met. * Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is strongly preferred but not required. Licensure/Certification Requirements: * Requires Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA). * Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required. Professional Experience Requirements: * Possess at least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified. * Demonstrate possession of the competencies outlined in the Medical Assistant, Certified Advancement Worksheet through their application and interview. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: * Ability to perform the essential functions of the position as outlined above. * Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. * Demonstrated ability to engage positively with patients and families and to work as a team with staff and providers. * Ability to use a computer to document required information into the electronic medical record.
