Summary:
As a core member of the Development Team, the Volunteer Relationships Coordinator will report to the Community and Corporate Relationships Manager (CCRM) and will also take direction from the Director of Development, Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Executive Officer. They will be responsible for helping to build and strengthen volunteer support for The People Concern, as well as nurturing overall community support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as an ambassador to those who volunteer in service to The People Concern
- Maintain engaging relationships with existing volunteers and actively recruit new volunteers
- Responsible for all aspects of coordinating all volunteers: orientation, tours, and placement/scheduling; maintaining contact with volunteers and providing support, guidance, and agency information as well as appropriately thanking volunteers
- Coordinating with all onsite staff regarding volunteers (start dates, check-ins, and troubleshooting)
- Primary maintenance of database of records and calendars for all volunteers enabling a database of robust historical information
- Coordinate with other Development staff to move volunteers and volunteer groups up the donor pipeline
- In concert with Community and Corporate Relationships Manager, actively seek out and attend recruiting events within the community to attract qualified volunteers
- Represent the organization at community events as appropriate
- Share info and photos of volunteer engagement and activities with the Marketing & Communications team as appropriate
- Participate in and support all agency events as necessary.
- Coordinate with Community and Corporate Relationships Coordinator for corporate and community groups to provide additional support where needed
- Back up for Community and Corporate Relationships Coordinator on their off days
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in project organization and management, volunteer relations, or similar position
- Enthusiasm for the cause of solving homelessness, and an interest in philanthropy at the grassroots level.
- Customer service orientation and resiliency in dealing with the general public.
- Advanced working knowledge of Canva, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel programs
- Valid CA Driver's license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record
- Travel between agency locations as work requires
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including regular weekend hours and some evenings for special events and meetings as requested.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently and work effectively across teams
- Detail-oriented with strong time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of professionalism, both independently and collaboratively
- A passion for connecting philanthropists with high impact opportunities to help the most vulnerable in their communities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using Raiser's Edge and Volunteer Management Software
- Experience collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders to complete projects
Work Environment:
- Combination of field and office environment
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
- On occasion walk or drive to different local sites
- May necessitate working in busy and loud environments
- May be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
- May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
