As a member of the HDH team, you will be part of a self-funded unit with over 900 staff employees, 1,000 student employees, and an annual operating budget of $250 million, providing housing and dining services to over 20,000 students, faculty, staff, and their families. POSITION OVERVIEWThis position serves as the Residential Services Senior Financial Manager for Housing Administrative Services --- a division of Housing, Dining, Hospitality (HDH) within Retail, Residential and Supply Chain Services (RRSS), This position manages $400+ million in annual revenue, overseeing billing, accounts receivable, and collections to ensure financial accuracy, reconciliation, and compliance with GAAP. Leads internal audits, resolves complex fund allocations, and enforces financial controls. Ensures effective customer service and adherence to institutional policies through rigorous financial reporting and oversight. Leads initiatives to optimize financial processes, ensure compliance, and align financial functions with institutional goals. Oversees financial reporting, reconciliation, and year-end close, while fostering staff development and operational efficiency. Acts as the primary financial expert for housing related projects, collaborating with campus partners to refine financial strategies, revenue management, and retention efforts. Supervises all aspects of Billing, Accounts Receivable (A/R), and Collection, and the tracking and reporting of approximately $400 million annual RRSS revenue generated through apartment rents, room and board, and miscellaneous housing income. Coordinates the gathering of budgetary and resource requirements information during planning stages, such as the annual budget RRSS Revenue and Residential Services processes. Leads financial planning, revenue forecasting, and budget strategy for on campus housing for undergraduates, Graduate & Family Housing, faculty and staff housing and summer session programs. Manges revenues and liabilities associated with required campus dining plans. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and UC system regulations while proactively strengthening internal controls. Oversees audits, financial data analysis, variance reporting, and strategic resource allocation to optimize budget management and fiscal sustainability. Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. Administers policies that directly affect subordinate staff. Serves as a project manager and subject matter expert in financial system development, overseeing integration of billing and financial platforms such as Mercury Billing, Oracle Financial Cloud, and Triton Student System. Leads system enhancements, testing, and workflow monitoring to ensure data accuracy and efficiency. Works with IT and campus departments to develop standardized financial processes that improve reporting, automation, and service delivery. QUALIFICATIONS
Mandated Reporter: This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $88,000 - $161,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $42.15 - $77.39 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
