Position Summary
The Senior Mechanical Assembler / Build Supervisor is responsible for leading the mechanical assembly and fabrication of complex industrial systems from initial build through final testing and installation. This role serves as the technical lead on the shop floor, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on mechanical assembly expertise with leadership experience, the ability to troubleshoot complex systems, and a commitment to mentoring team members. This position works closely with Engineering, Controls, Production, and Project Management teams to drive successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily mechanical assembly activities for complex equipment and integrated systems
- Assign work, monitor progress, and provide technical guidance to assemblers and fabrication personnel
- Assemble mechanical systems and subassemblies according to engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Interpret and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process systems, resolving build issues independently
- Fabricate and install piping, valves, pumps, tanks, structural supports, and related components
- Perform MIG and TIG welding, grinding, and metal fabrication as required
- Coordinate with electrical and controls teams to ensure proper mechanical integration and system functionality
- Support project planning, build sequencing, labor allocation, and schedule adherence
- Conduct functional testing, quality inspections, and final system verification
- Participate in customer site installations, startup activities, and field service support as needed
- Promote and enforce company safety standards and best practices
- Train, mentor, and support the development of junior assemblers and technicians
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and quality enhancements
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of mechanical assembly, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial equipment build experience
- 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, lead assembler, or team lead experience preferred
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, P&IDs, fabrication drawings, and engineering schematics
- Proven experience with pipe fitting, pumps, valves, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems
- Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding, including structural welds and lifting-point fabrication
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage deadlines, and lead multiple projects simultaneously

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in manufacturing environments for extended periods
- Comfortable working in hot, cold, and industrial shop conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and carry tools and materials safely
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, overhead cranes, and other shop equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading custom equipment, automation, process skid, or industrial machinery builds
- Experience supporting field installations and customer site commissioning
- Forklift, crane, or welding certifications
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
