We Require
Three years of experience in psychiatric evaluation and treatment Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD, DO) Completed accredited Residency Program in Psychiatry Current license as a Psychiatrist in the State of Arizona issued by the State of Arizona Medical Board

Evaluate new admissions to reach a diagnosis and treat identified mental illness Re-evaluates patients under care to refine diagnosis and treatment as indicated Prescribes medications following the CHS Pharmacy Formulary Documents evaluation, treatment, and other patient interactions clearly and thoroughly, and in compliance with licensure and accreditation requirements Participates in the management of patients who require involuntary treatment, including but not limited to initiating Court-ordered evaluation, participating in the Psychiatric Medication Review Board, and ordering the administration of involuntary medications as indicated Participates as a member of the Mental Health Interdisciplinary Treatment team, assists the team in developing Special Needs Treatment Plans, and coordinates with the Forensic Team for any patients in a forensic program Participates in the development of psychiatric protocols and clinical practice guidelines to ensure medical services are provided in a cost-effective manner that is consistent with psychiatric standards and appropriate for the correctional setting Assists with preparation for licensure and accreditation surveys Maintains licensure, certifications, and other credentialing as indicated
Working Conditions
Must be able to work inside a jail and stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time throughout the shift while accurately handling a high volume of work, communicating with a culturally diverse patient population, and adapting to frequent changes, interruptions, and unscheduled tasks Position includes day or night shift work, which may include weekends and holidays Travel or floating to various clinical locations is required within a 5-mile radius Must be able to respond to emergencies Must maintain CPR certification and get on the floor to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check and maintain MCSO jail access CPR certification is required upon hire Physician Dispensing Certificate Registration is required upon hire
