Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility.

Pay Rate -$42 .12 per hour

DUTIES

Under general supervision with considerable opportunity for individual action, performs general substation work such as

  • Uses Company safety practices and procedures.

  • Identifies substation equipment, layout requirements, plans, sections, panel elevations, and basic wiring design.

  • Reads, interprets, and applies information from manufacturer's drawings, catalogs, and other applications in creating construction documents.

  • Makes detailed drawings depicting existing and proposed locations of facilities.

  • Creates construction documents including set-up, manipulation, scanning, merging, etc.

  • Performs general layout of substation equipment in accordance with Company standards and industry codes.

  • Accumulates and provides information to customers or other entities concerning material requirements and labor estimates.

  • Determines minor material requirements and prepares bills of material and requisitions from standardized listing of substation equipment.

  • Maintains familiarity with older substation designs and applications while adapting new technology.

  • Guides and assists employees in this and lower job classifications with their work, standard practices, and work procedures as assigned.

  • Performs work of a higher classification when preparing for advancement.

  • Performs other similar or less skilled work, as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet the Company's requirements as to GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS; must have all the qualifications of Technician; and, in addition

  • Must have at least two (2) years experience as a Technician in the Substation line of progression, or the equivalent.

  • Must have completed the equivalent of sixty (60) quarter credits in an approved engineering/technical program as specified by the Department or have earned a degree recognized by the Department.

  • Must pass an examination as specified by the Department for entrance into this position.

  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in drafting standards, symbols, nomenclature, CAD tools, and engineering terms, including the use of materials, reference books and catalogs.

  • Ability to successfully complete (EEI Tech) Testing
