About the Opportunity:
The Engineering Technician is a highly skilled technical role that serves as a critical link between engineering and shop floor execution. Based at our Thomasville, Georgia facility, this position supports a team of approximately 130 employees manufacturing highly engineered airfoils, blisks (rotor disks with integrated blades), and other complex rotating aerospace engine components.

Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Operations teams, you will apply both hands-on machining expertise and Siemens NX CAD/CAM capabilities to support process development, tooling improvements, CNC programming, and manufacturing problem-solving. This role plays a key part in ensuring new and existing manufacturing processes are efficient, repeatable, and capable of meeting the demanding quality standards of the aerospace industry.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced machinist who enjoys technical challenges, continuous improvement, and collaborating with engineers to transform manufacturing concepts into practical shop floor solutions. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable creating and modifying CNC programs, supporting tooling and process development, and working directly alongside production teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers to develop, optimize, and sustain machining processes for complex aerospace components.
  • Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs using Siemens NX, ensuring programs meet quality, productivity, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Support the design, modification, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions using NX modeling and drafting tools.
  • Perform hands-on machining activities to prove out new programs, validate tooling concepts, support process improvements, and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges.
  • Provide technical support to machinists and production personnel regarding CNC programs, tooling, setups, and process-related issues.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of manufacturing documentation, including setup sheets, work instructions, operation standards, and process specifications.
  • Participate in new product introduction, first article inspections, process validation activities, and capability improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to investigate nonconformances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity performance.
  • Assist with machine and process troubleshooting by analyzing machining performance, tooling effectiveness, cycle times, and process variation.
  • Ensure compliance with all aerospace quality requirements, customer specifications, company procedures, and safety standards.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, serving as a technical resource and helping bridge engineering intent with manufacturing execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment, including machine setup, tooling selection, and process troubleshooting.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical degree, machining certificate, or equivalent vocational training.
  • Working knowledge of Siemens NX, including CAD modeling, drafting, and/or CAM programming.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, workholding, feeds and speeds, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, GD&T, blueprints, process routings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience supporting CNC milling and/or turning operations.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and interpreting inspection results.
  • Experience with multi-axis machining (4-axis and/or 5-axis CNC equipment).
  • Experience machining nickel-based superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, or other aerospace materials.
  • Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Experience in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting first article inspections, process validation activities, or capability studies.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Regular exposure to manufacturing equipment, moving machinery, noise, metalworking fluids, and varying shop floor conditions.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes, is required when working in designated production areas.
  • Ability to work both in an office environment and on the manufacturing floor supporting production operations.
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to support production schedules, project deadlines, equipment troubleshooting, or business priorities.
