Overview
The Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) performs clerical tasks, assists technologists, physicians, and clinical staff as requested, performs phlebotomy, performs testing categorized as Waived Testing according to CLIA '88, performs port draws and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures, assists with bone marrows, communicates effectively with other staff, patients and extra-office personnel, maintains records of specimen handling, and maintains an orderly work environment. SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires normal vision and normal color perception. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work on a desktop computer for extended periods of time. May require working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
